Exit 32 & 38 Climbing Area (East of Seattle)

Post by Doc » Sun Jul 30, 2006 8:49 pm

Has anyone climbed there? Is it worth the drive? I'm thinking of going down this week to check it out. Which crag(s) should I visit? I don't want to hike too far - I'll have the kids with me. Can I buy a guide book in Vancouver?

If you are driving from Squamish all the way to one of those places (North Bend) i would have to say that it's not worth the drive. If squamish was a 10 (which it is in my book) then 38 & 32 would be maybe a 3or 4 :)
32 has some good stuff, most stuff that is not on "world wall I" tends to be dirty and WWI is super steep with a few .9's & .10's and everything up to mid 5.14. probably not the best or safest place for kids (belays on fairly high cliff).
38, is medocre somewhat chossy and both areas tend to be grid bolted.
if you are driving to washington, i would check out...Index, Leavenworth, or even Vantage (Frenchman Coulee) before 32 & 38. let me know if you want anymore beta.
