Anyone know the details in regard to some guy pulling off a visiting Japanese climber who was hammering in pitons while he was leading Freeway?

I have heard this rumour....but it was last year.
The Japanese crew thought they were on a different climb (an aid climb) and were spotted on freeway nailing away.
This offended a local who soloed up to the belayer and tried to communicate with them with little success. He stopped the leaders progress by holding the rope, who then came down and they managed to establish they were on the wrong climb. I think it was a heated discussion.
I don't know what line they were looking for and all of this is just rumours and unsubstatiated word of mouth from last year.
