SAS Trail day

Post by tsouth » Sun Jul 05, 2015 7:06 pm

What's the game plan for the trail day this year? Meeting Adventure centre as usual? Or chief lot? There isn't a lot of info on the arcteryx site. Any idea what areas we're heading to this year?
Cheers,
Ty

Peter Winter (CASBC) and I are leading trail day this year. The Trail day is to start at 8 at the adventure centre. The proposed objective this year is to build a safer new access trail to Angels crest from the sheriffs badge . It is likely to be an interesting project. And there should be lots of swag for the participants.

Thanks Kris, the reason I posted is because there is no info on where the meeting place. The only information listed on the website the time. Also the website doesn't say objective, which is a lesser concern as I'd do it wherever, but if people missed the original meet up it would be helpful.
Likely see you there.

Great idea for the trail improvement. I've walked that "trail" a few times and it is pretty painful trying to go directly from the badge to AC. Almost better in it's current state to walk downhill for 15 minutes and back up.

Hey John,
Bring gloves, some water, and food. BC parks has tools but if you've got extra I'm sure they'd be appreciated just not mandatory.

Hi All: Unfortunately the weather and extreme fire hazard has forced the trail day objective to change. The use of power saws and metal digging tools (sparks when they hit rocks) required to properly do the trail alignment is severely restricted in the current conditions http://bcwildfire.ca/Industry_Stakehold ... vities.htm. Instead we are going to do a backside trail cleanup (there is a lot of trash up there) and/or rewilding of bandit campsites in the North Walls area dependent on turnout. So bring lots of water, gloves, good footwear and lunch. Meet at the Adventure Centre for 8 am.

Thanks Again
