Your chance to change BCTS logging plans
Your chance to change BCTS logging plans
Hi All:
The Squamish Access Society and Climbers Access Society of BC and some in the hiking community are scheduled to have a meeting with BC Timber Sales Tuesday July 22, 2014 regarding the Olesen Creek logging and their future forest development plans which include a block encompassing the Clean boulders and the Farm. The Squamish Access Society is highly concerned that these blocks are going to be rammed through unless more individual members of the climbing community take personal initiative to voice their displeasure with these logging plans. We at the Squamish Access Society feel a wave of emails hitting BCTS inboxes prior to this meeting would do a lot to display this concern and the value of these areas to the climbing and general community. Please address your emails to the following persons:
Forests.ChinookTimberSalesOffice@gov.bc.ca
Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Steve Thomson. Email: FLNR.Minister@gov.bc.ca
For those who have already sent emails we thank you. The generic response that BCTS has had to develop to these emails indicates to us that BCTS is in damage control mode and is feeling the pressure and getting the message that the climbing public is not happy with these plans.

Re: Your chance to change BCTS logging plans
Thanks Chris and thanks SAS and CASBC for speaking up and advocating for climbers on this issue. Logging will definitely change everything that makes climbing beautiful and special in Squamish, especially in these relatively new and unique crags.
I have emailed as suggested and urge everyone here to do the same. You email could be the tipping point to make a difference.
