MRAS not-for-profit campground proposal

Post by John Harvey » Thu Jan 09, 2014 10:13 pm

A note to all climbers; The Mamquam River Access Society (MRAS) is proposing the development of a not-for-profit campground beside the beautiful Mamquam River. The Crown land application needs support from Squamish Council, then it needs rezoning, then remediation and finally campground development.
The SVMF is using some industrial lands for temporary camping serving only their festival (for two years). It doesn't negate our town's obvious need for affordable camping.
Our presentation before Mayor & Council is this next Tues (Jan 14th) at Council Chambers at 1:00 PM. I hope some climber folks can come out to support me in convincing them the appropriateness of this plan. Long term, a non-profit campground will be a Squamish legacy where even the locals will want to camp.

Good luck with that. Will it be priced similarly to the Chief campground?

[Topic has been split off from the SVMF thread as it definitely deserves its own]
