Current conditions in Squamish
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
FWIW ... as the rains are returning ... as of last night the Grand Wall base area was very dry. Even the Flake right of Apron Strings looked completely dry.

Confusing conditions this June ...
Seems to be worth heading out most days regardless of the forecast.

Hello Thesiger (and anyone else in Squamish):
It seems that during these past few days we've had rain in Greater Vancouver, but little or no rain in Squamish. We had a fair rain this morning (I'm in North Van as I write this). How about this morning in Squamish?
cheers,
Steve
ps: love that changing icon!

Grey but dry. Unfortunately I had to drive to Van from 10ish so have no further data points.natsdad wrote: How about this morning in Squamish?
There are many far better-informed people than me writing on this forum but FWIW: it seems to me that we lucked out with that long dry spell from late March to early May which dried out both many routes and sources of seepage entirely, so even though late May and early June weather have been mixed, seepage isn't returning, and rock is drying fast between showers. But that may be total bollocks.

Re: Current conditions in Squamish
While you were writing the above the post it was raining at the Chief and only the Chief, had to back track to Murrin that morning for dry rock
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Stating the obvious: it hasn't rained here for at least two weeks.
Seems like anything with a wet streak is now dry ... anyone know otherwise? Blackwater climbable?

Climbed Chewbacca yesterday afternoon, once the morning mist stopped. That route is entirely dry.

Climbed Angels Crest today which was a big mistake as many pitches were basically waterfalls, needs another couple of days to dry out....
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Anyone been on Grand Wall in the last couple of days? Is it dry?

Grand Wall drys very quickly, only wet area should be the move to the belay at the top of Merci Me, and maybe one or two at the start of the traverse. Will definitely be good to go by tomorrow.
Re: Current conditions in Squamish
Climbed Centurion today and was mostly dry, totally climbable.

I was hoping to climb butt light on saturday but the weather forecast doesn't sound great. Has anyone been on butt light recently? Is it do-able when the rock is wet/there is light precipitation.
