Squamish Deep Water Soloing?

Post by tsouth » Fri Jul 26, 2013 7:55 pm

So I was just perusing climbing.com and there was an interesting article about DWS in North America. Low and behold it mentions squamish. I had no idea there was an DWS here but it would be a fun way to enjoy those scorcher days. Anyone have any beta? Ever checked it out?
For those interested the article. http://www.climbing.com/route/psicobloc-americano/

Looks good. But the Chekamus river can run pretty swiftly and is probably a$% cold. Be careful out there.

From the article:

"Located just downstream of the Rogue’s Gallery climbing area off Highway 99. Park at Rogue’s and walk 10 minutes south—turn on a dirt road (foot traffic only) that drops down parallel to the highway for about 1,000 feet. A path leading to the water will bring you to the top of the cliffs, then find your way down to the slabs"

The Cheakamus is full of Whistler's treated sewage, better keep your mouth closed if you fall in?

Of course there's also the stuff on the west side of Hose Sound that you get to by canoe from the spit.
