The Battle of Evermore 5.14 a/b

I heard a little about this incredibly stunning and hard climb in the blogosphere. Sonnie Trotter made the first ascent of this climb that begins as an overhanging wide crack that turns into a prow. It’s located above Furry Creek.

The climb got it’s third ascent earlier this year by Jamie Finlayson, a CASBC director and all-round solid guy. He’s done a great write-up of the climb and the effort he put into it over on his website.

He starts by offering this colourful description of the climb:
The beginning of the route you climb completely upside down using double knee bars. Then you bust out onto the prow and use some aggressive heel hooks, pinches, slopers, and crimpers. It is kind of like hugging a fridge that is tilted to 60 degrees. Then you make an awesome dyno (jump) to a massive jug hold which is essentially the finish of the route.

Sounds amazing, like Meshuga in the Peak District.

If the name is a Led Zep reference, shouldn't it be The Battle of Evermore?

Edit: Apparently he did name it The Battle of Evermore.

This is cool, Tim Emmett (is he living in Squamish now?) just posted a great video on his Tim Diaries of Steve Townsend going for the second ascent.

What do you think?
