So...what's the deal with Mercy Street?

10b? Is there anyone who's climbed it that thinks this is an honest grade? (This is not a rhetorical question.)

I know 10b is an unusually stiff grade for some reason, what with Apron Strings, Split Pillar, Split Beaver, etc, but Mercy Street looks like the climb you'd make if you tried to turn the Pillar upside down and kept going.

The reason I ask is because I want to do it one day. It looks...amazing. It also looks solid 5.11. If it's as hard as it looks then I wouldn't end up climbing it, but desperately aiding it. So be honest. What is Mercy Street's grade, relative to the neighbourhood?

its 10b.....basically a clone of the Pillar.
Dries very slow though so you generally have to wait until at least July.

Easier than the pillar. More stuff for your feet. Easier too if you can't jam very well, whereas the pillar your kinda screwed.

Definitely easier than the pillar... get on it! (well, maybe in like 7 months or so....? heh.)

Better bring three blues unless you want to end up scared and pumped out and bumping cams like me, or you're a badass. Just as hard as the pillar in my opinion. Take the gear, go do it. Can be done as one pitch but you better be ready for it, or it will pump you out bigtime!

Super worthy. We did it late aug/early Sep. takes a very long dry spell for it to be good to go.
