What is the climb to the right of Pig Dogs on Parade?
Hi Folks,
Had a fun day yesterday, climbing Rambles, Sparrow, Pig Dogs, Dances w/ Pigs and up to the forest. Then did the new start to the Buttress and finished on Butt Face.
While climbing Pig Dogs, I notice several new bolts about 10 m over to the right. These eventually led up to the Pig Dogs anchor...
Does anyone know what this route is or who put it up?
cheers,
Steve

Re: What is the climb to the right of Pig Dogs on Parade?
I think it was a Glenn Payan, Jeff Thompson creation from about ten or twelve years ago. I recall it having some hard moves through the bulge on slopey knobs. 5.11- maybe? For some reason it never made it into any of the guidebooks. I have it penned in on my 2001 edition guidebook. Possibly someone saw it and decided to re-brush it? There is also a direct start variation to pig dogs called Charlie don't Surf, it's 5.9

Thanks, Kris:
So, where does Charlie Don't Surf start? That would seem to be the line I noticed. And is the Payan/Thomson 5.11-? route further right, still?

I'm by no means certain about this, but I believe that CDS was a direct, but possibly unprotected start to PDOP, going straight up to the second bolt. The hard line I mentioned traverses around the corner to the right on knobs before any bolts are visible. By the time you can see them you are usually looking down at the next technical down climbing part of the Apron walk-off.
