Local climber /mtn biker raising money for Squam. charity

Local climber, mtn biker and city councillor raising money for Squamish charity

I saw this letter by Susan Chapelle in the Chief paper today. Susan is an avid climber, mountain biker, new city councillor and a massage therapist at Squamish therapeutics. I first met Susan when I interviewed her for an article on Smoke Bluffs Park that’s coming out in the August issue of Gripped.

Susan is riding the Test of Metal race this year to raise money for the Squamish Community Foundation. As she says in her letter, Squamish residents are generous and by supporting the Community Foundation more of that donated money will stay in Squamish to help needy families and community groups. And she also notes

there are many young people struggling with cancer in our community. We have been raising funds separately and almost competitively for each child and their families. What if there was a fund put together through the Community Foundation that all families could draw from in times of distress? This is a possibility that can be easily realized.

I like what Susan is doing and thought I would pass this on so Squamish climbers could get in on supporting another climber raising funds for the community.
