Where to toprope with kids?

After years of dreaming of climbing in Squamish, i'll finally be there this summer...
but with the kids, so no multi-pitch routes for us.

Can anyone direct me to some good climbing sites for roping with my 8 and 10 years-old kids (5.4 to 5.7ish) ?

I know this is a bit of a sin to talk about toproping is such a place, but wit the two kids, i need to adapt the approach...

Hey SoGo,

I would also recommend sugarloaf by Murrin. Not sure when you're going to be in Squamish, but if it's the summer, it's not a bad place to hang with kids as there's the lake for swimming too.
Fatty Bolger is also an area to consider, it's a short walk from the Bluffs carpark.

I've been meaning to get my little guy out recently (he's 6) - feel free to pm me and if I can swing it I'd be happy to show you around - I live in Vancouver, but have transport so it's relatively easy for me to get up to Squamish

Welcome to Squamish Climbing!

Squamish is a very family friendly climbing destination especially Smoke Bluffs Park. At the Neat & Cool crag but around the corner (sorry forgot the name) there are a number of easy climbs that can be top roped such as Neat and Clean (5.4). This is a great area to hang out if you have kids. There's a picnic table, nice flat gravel at the base of the climb and trees provide shade. They are even building a children's play zone and more climbs for kids in area. Here are some photos:

Other suggestions in Smoke Bluffs Park
- Burgers and Fries - is popular, but great for top roping. The base at the climbs is also flat and there's picnic table there as well. New anchors have been installed on Burgers and Fries south adding to the number of easy moderate climbs.
- Funarama some great moderates here, usually quieter than Neat & Cool and Burgers and Fries.

Murrin Park is also a good suggestion. I'm not sure I'd recommend Area 44 for young kids. The base of the climbs is fairly steep and as mentioned, it's a new crag and hence more loose/falling rock potential. Great climbing and scenic vistas though.

Call it a Day in the Smoke Bluffs has a bunch of 5.6s too, with easy access to the anchors.
