Noose Found on the apron connector..

Post by gnarnaphobe » Fri Mar 09, 2012 10:36 am

So I was walking to the forest yesterday morning and directly below the route being scrubbed by the bottom line there was carefully tied noose, constructed out of large length of static, line a hanging off a tree. Not a very pleasant item to come across, my first thought was some one is or was planning to take their life, but then second though was maybe it was a hate message directed towards the route developer.. Either way I wasnt going to leave it there, I dismantled it and coiled the cord...

Was this cord chopped from the route getting scrubbed above it?

Is there someone who has a problem with the ethics and style of this project, but is too indirect to let their opinion be known.

Has their been many suicides on the chief? I heard of one a few years back where a guy jumped off, but first alerted 911 via some sort of gps device which he jumped off with and SAR first went to the top of the monolith and found nothin, and later found a smooshed dude at the bottom...

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought this should be brought to the attention of the community.
Imaging how much funner this could be with booze and explosives

I've absentmindedly tied a noose before (a few times actually) with the end of a rope. Perhaps it was left behind...

but who knows...

Coastalclimber; maybe you should pay closer attantion to your actions when working on quite possibly the highest profile route being developed at Squamish. Your actions could potentially have an impact on all route developers as well as rules and regulations within the park..

What is wrong with the route? Just curious because I live on Hornby Island so I don't get by very often to check it out.

absolutely nothing. it's simply close to the apron parking lot. in this case, "high profile" can only be taken in the most literal sense.
