Squamish Chief Campground Fee Hike
The camping fees at the Chief appear to have gone up from $5 per night per person to $8 this year. The price change took effect March 15/11.
Here is the link to the 2011 fee schedule. The Stawamus Chief Park websitesays the the same thing.
Am I right about this? What do people think?

For what? A gravel pad and a pit toilet...?
A shower would be a start...have they supplied gear lockers yet?
I havent heard any positive reviews from any visiting climbers, mostly rumours about rampant gear theft and highway noise.

"There is a pay phone located next to the information kiosk. There are storage lockers located next to the cooking shelter. No campfires are permitted. Setting up of slack lines is prohibited within the park. Campsites are small and overcrowding is not permitted."

Parks set up the slacklining area in front of the campground to prevent damage to trees and other vegitation in the campground. They were having a hard enough time keeping folks on the gravel pathways and not creating little shortcut trails. Add the random and ever-changing slacklining setups of a few years ago, and the vegitation was getting pretty hammered. I was surprised and impressed that BC Parks actually put up the posts for slacklining, and did it in a prominent, social, and sunny spot.
Their website does a poor job explaining that it's not only ok, but actually provided for in a particular area.
