Ya the prices all got jacked about 2 weeks ago. GriGri's $93.

The only thing in the whole store that went down was the BD nut tool. $10 to $8.

Some of the other shops around haven't followed suit yet though and MEC will price match as long as it is the reg. advertised price. So keep your eyes open.

And La Sportiva rubber really sucks for durability on Squamish granite slabs. I get a half season out of a pair of shoes max. Unfortunately prices are likely reflection of lower CDN dollar during buying season in fall winter last year. Hopefully next years prices will reflect current strong CDN dollar.

That's exactly what the guy at the climbing counter at MEC told me - all the hardwear went up in price just over two weeks ago due to the weak CDN dollar compared to the Euro

I could have bought 2 ropes last year for the prices they are now. This means all those lucky bastards with employee discounts are paying regular price.

Just 2 summers ago Moccasyms were $89 + tax and Muira Lace were $129 + tax @ climb on & MEC, how can the same shoe that has been made the same way for almost a decade go up in price so much? Did 5.10 stop getting children to make their shoes or something? Looks like its resole time....
One brand that has not been affected as much is Acopa, maybe since they are made in North America? This seems like the type of issue that is not likely to reverse itself, even if the shoe cost goes down next year why would retailers lower prices once we are used to paying these ridiculous prices. We need a Canadian climbing shoe company!!
