Careful...wasp(?) nest on Penny Lane

There is a small, active nest in the crack. I felt something odd when I stuck in a hand jam--thought it was a pine cone until visual inspection showed it to be otherwise.

Fortunately, it was still cool and early enough in the morning that they weren't in the mood for retaliation.

It's about halfway up the route: when you get to a stance where you are standing on a little rounded pedestal, it will be at head level right behind the place where the crack is narrowest.

That's what I was thinking--not the sort of thing you're expecting to encounter on such a well-travelled route, either. They picked a prime piece of real estate.
