Re: Disaster Response (3 p 5.10) on a new wall

Climbed this today... F#cking awesome!
The second pitch is one of the best 5.10c/d trad lines in Squamish IMHO.
The first and third pitches are worthwhile too.
Get on it while it's clean.

Big thanks to HY and GW!

Re: Mercurial Crossing at Papoose - route by John Howe

I climbed Mercurial Crossing a few weeks ago from the start of Mercury Vapour to the end of Pinup. Had a great time on it - thanks to JH for the new options on The Papoose!

Re: Recommended approach to Star Chek

I too was a bit surprised at the approach description in the new book. I have always hiked to the base with no concerns. The person that showed me the route long ago told me that rapping that route to get to the start was bad form and I believe that they were correct.

Re: Photophobia 5.10 5 p on Slhanay (Squaw)

Saw this topo last night - climbed the route today... Amazing! Thanks for all the hard work putting this route up! Great climbing with well protected cruxes and comfy belay ledges. It is similiar to Rock On but better! (and possibly 2 letter grades harder?) The rock was dry and clean and there was n...

Re: Calling out the Hacks.

I don't have a problem with people soloing routes but...
Soloing in front of strangers at popular crags like Neat & Cool, Burgers & Fries, Mosquito, etc... is selfish and egotistical IMHO. Soloing a route like Diedre on a busy day and passing people is irresponsible and dangerous.

The belay bolts are still there as indicated by the topo. You went too far on pitch 8 and passed them.

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8

I've been cleaning up the sacrificial lamb & monkey lust area. The top 3/4 of each route has been pruned/picked/trundled and lightly scrubbed. Still a sea of rusty 1/4" spinners on the slab finish of sacrificial lamb. A bit of trundling was done on each route too. There are 2 new 1 pitch trad routes...

Re: Smoke Bluff Crag vandalized/chopped

pretty weak sauce to anonymously chop anchor bolts at a 5.6 crag
on the other hand
I completely support the bolt "chopping" (and sending) on that sweet video...
