Re: Photophobia 5.10 5 p on Slhanay (Squaw)
Hi Folks: Climbed Photophobia yesterday - we were the first of three parties climbing it - and really enjoyed it. Very nice route and great climbing and fantastic exposure. Thank you Glenn and party for developing this climb. I thought the grades published in the Select Guidebook for this are accura...

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
Hi Dave, Great point. We could have a separate thread in "New Routes / Cleaning / Trail Updates" dedicated to those climbs needing maintenance. People could volunteer and then update that thread to advise the community when the last maintenance was completed - as well as seeking help. I'd be keen to...

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
Hey T2Climb: I haven't had a chance to climb Skywalker yet, but many of my friends have and all report that it is excellent. And I own the new Squamish Select Guidebook and find the routes that Marc put on the 100 Best Climbs list to be very accurate (I've climbed 99% of the ones that are under 5.11...

Re: Wire Tap
Hi MarkR,
Yes, Wire Crack made it into the new Squamish Select Guide. Hopefully some dry weather will see lots of traffic to the Wire Tap area. I haven't been on it yet, but it is very high on my "upcoming tick list".

Re: New 5.9 Variation on Squamish Buttress
Hi Relic and Lurch: Well, "Juneuary" spilled into July and my plans for doing this new start were foiled by our liquid sunshine. But I do hope to get on it soon (forecast is for much improved weather...) and I'll let you know my thoughts about the need for an additional bolt. Noted, that it is 10a, ...

Re: New 5.9 Variation on Squamish Buttress
Hi Relic and others:
Has an additional bolt been added around the arete (as suggested above)? I'm thinking of trying this variation soon - weather permitting - en route to the "Butt Face" variation.
Thank you for putting in this new start.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Passing etiquette on a multi pitch
Hi Quantum 7: What a bummer. It is very unfortunate that you had to endure that annoying and potentionally dangerous behaviour. My view is that clipping another party's gear, without permission, is totally unacceptable. And climbing through past part of your party, again, without permission, is very...

Hi Folks: This is from yesterday's Squamish Chief Newspaper: Stawamus Chief hiking trail re-opens Popular pathway deemed safe after rock slide, repairs Chief staff The main hiking trail to the backside of the Stawamus Chief has re-opened after a closure necessitated by a significant rock fall on the...

Re: YAK PEAK
Hi Mike, My partner and I climbed this last summer (2011) and had a fine time. We rapped back down after 14 pitches (lots of simul-rapping and pulling ropes). The new approach trail was in good shape and made for a pleasant hike. Routefinding was pretty good, a few bolts and/or stations hard to spot...

Re: A few days left to pre-order Squamish Select
I ordered my copy of the new Select book through squamishclimbing.com and can't wait to receive it. Also, I'd like to thank Marc for the excellent work (and community service) he does by hosting so many topos on quickdrawpulbications.com - thanks!

Re: Sullys projects
Hi Folks,
One other thing: there is a slightly loose small block on 3M, fairly close to the ground, that could use a **careful** prying off (it's on the fall line where belayer would stand or rope would hang), and one or two hangers spun higher up on the route.
cheers,
Steve

Re: Public Safety Issue - Europa/Crap Crags
Hi Aaron, Thanks for starting the conversation. I did this route a couple of years ago and have never desired to repeat it. I also found a lot of questionable (in terms of its' soundness) rock on this route. Also, with the new "butt face" variation on the Squamish Buttress, there is an "easy" and mu...

Re: Sullys projects
Hi Folks, We climbed Sully's briefly yesterday, Sunday, May 27. Only had time for a few climbs. Many of the climbs on the North Wall were still too wet to climb. We climbed 3M to second anchor, Little Lulu and Beginner's Luck (I think). All were worthy climbs. I love the rough texture of the rock th...
