Redpoint Climbers Supply of Smith Rock Robbed

I thought that this would be cross-posted over here already, but it doesn't look like it. On the 15th of January Redpoint Climbers Supply in Terrebonne, Oregon, right outside of Smith Rock was broken into and cleaned out. You can find out all the details at: http://www.rockclimbing.com/cgi-bin/forum...

Opinions on North North Arete?

My climbing partner and I climbed that route last Sunday.

Before I rant about it, I would like to hear some other peoples' opinions on it. Have any of you done it? What are your thoughts on it?

Re: my first trip!

The Chief campground has outhouses, picnic tables, a bulletin board, a couple of faucets over a drain in the ground, and no showers. I recommend you go into town for potable water. I have no idea if car sleeping is OK there, but I have seen a few people get away with it. You can go into town for lau...

From the UBC Varsity outdoors Club wiki page: Pitch 4 -- 5.5 (30m) Climb up belay tree and gain the top of a large flake. Traverse right and climb up into a chimney. Bolted belay. The bolts here form the top of a rap line made for a single 60m rope, that will allow climbers to retreat from the top o...

Is it windier (and therefore slower...) to go the Manning Park route?

I'm going to be climbing in Skaha May 5 - May 8. I've never been there before. What's the best route to get there? Google Maps suggested taking the #1 past Hope, then the #3, then the #5 the Coquihalla to Merritt, and then the 97C to Penticton. Distance: 417 km But how about taking the #1 past Hope,...

Planning a trip to Skaha in mid March. Info needed.

I’m planning a rock climbing trip for March 13 (Friday) – March 15 (Sunday). We would be leaving from Vancouver, BC. My first choice is Skaha, BC. I have never been there before. Some of my friends have in years past, but I don’t know yet if they can come. There is so much that I do not know regardi...
