Re: new area at Murrin past Quercus

Hi folks: I climbed many of the routes at Woodstock this weekend, so I felt I should follow up. I enjoyed the climbing there, but did notice many bolts located near reasonable gear placements. Still the overall feel of the crag is a sports crag and like Pleasant Pheasant, the climbs seem to work wel...

Sean rocks!

I watched the R & I video and another showing the rope climb...and Sean's athleticism is amazing. Congratulations.

Agreed! Name back-story: my friend Erik, who put that route in, found a golf ball on the top ledge, where the anchors are located, when he first scoped this line. I'm really glad to see so many people enjoying this quality line.

Re: Disaster Response (3 p 5.10) on a new wall

Whoa! Nice routes and crag. Thanks so much for finding, developing and building a great trail to this little gem. We climbed Disaster Response Route (thin crack variation) on Saturday, and then did the other variation and lines, too. The rock is clean, the moves are great and the protection is all t...

Re: Heads up Gran Fondo cycling race Saturday - expect delay

Hi Dave: We had a "family" climbing day on Saturday w/ four families (lots o' kids) driving up from Vancouver (one family from West Vancouver). Because of the Gran Fondo, we left later than planned - hoping to arrive at Murrin Park around 1 PM - after most of the highway diversions (between Van & Sq...

Re: Upper Olesen Creek logging- results of July 22nd meeting

Hi All: The Squamish Chief has this article in it: http://www.squamishchief.com/news/local-news/b-c-timber-sales-alters-proposal-1.1331509 claiming that "B.C. Timber Sales have altered the boundaries of a proposed logging block to leave a popular climbing area untouched." Does anyone - particularly ...

Re: Climber accident on Apron Aug 23 and SAR

I see from local news reports there was an accident Saturday on the Apron. A climber fell and had a lower leg injury and possibly a back injury. Does anybody know anymore? What climb were they on? The Global item says the Apron was so busy Squamish SAR had to drop two members at the top of the Apro...

Hey Folks:

Anyone else tried this new addition to the Buttress (Shelter from the Norm)? I'm thinking of checking it out tomorrow.

Thanks,

Re: new area at Murrin past Quercus

Hey Slinky and Stewart, et al: I think the discussion of where and if to bolt is an important one to have. And although I occasionally indulge in a ranting style and an f bomb, I think it is important to keep the tone civil. A few disclaimers: I have not yet visited this new crag in question. I do n...

Re: Elitist climber writes article of self congratulation.

Several repeats followed, none of which utilized double ropes. But I was warmed to hear that one of our local climbers was pulled off the route at the final hard (and long) reach when she came up short on the deadpoint thanks to excessive rope drag. Riff-raff! Thanks for the fun post - a great read...

Re: Upper Olesen Creek logging- results of July 22nd meeting

I will agree with Peter in stating that continued and increased pressure at the higher trophic levels of food chain (deputy minister, Ministerial , Premier levels) in the Ministry of Forest, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Ministry of Tourism and the Premiers office may prevent logging in th...

Re: Upper Olesen Creek logging- results of July 22nd meeting

Thanks, Chris and SAS: I greatly appreciate you folks meeting with BCTS and speaking up for the climbing community. The concessions that they appear to be willing to make are important and will help a lot. Personally, I'd prefer not to see any more logging in the areas above and east of the Chief. T...
