lol. He asked for a good place to start climbing. I'm not saying spend the entire day at the Sugarloaf or B&F. There is a lot of climbing around those. I still say it's good place to put some gear in. I came from climbing slimestone, and granite is a much different thing. If its crowded, or you look...

If you're coming for a day or two, sure grab the 5 stars. Otherwise maybe try placing a couple of pieces before you find yourself trying up an already crowded route like Rock On. Especially if that route doesn't have bolted anchors. Oh and the sport climbing out here is damn fun! Just don't admit it...

re: Where to start climbing

Since you are new to leading trad, and crack, I would recommend going to Burgers and Fries wall (in the Bluffs). There is easy top rope action if you like, and there are a few climbs in the 5.7 (4+) range if you gunning to get on the sharp end. Also the Sugarloaf in Murrin park has some great intro ...

re: Carbon Tax

I think it's a good idea. I found myself limiting my driving since the price hikes, and this will just further that change in more and more people. It can't be easy for the commuters but hopefully this will make carpooling, and just living closer to work more attractive. Plus I guess it's also a goo...

place to live

There is a new rental company in Squamish now too (well, new to Squamish anyways). Not sure what they have, but it's worth taking a look at.

Staying clean

I doubt that this will be an issue. I'd bet this route is going to see as much traffic as Deidre. I think lineups will be it's biggest downfall. Keep on keep'n on Jeff!! This is going to be a great addition to the climbing in Squamish.

Dogs in Squamish

There is usually a bunch of dogs running around the boulders, crags, and every other part of Squamish. Most owners are respectful enough to pack out the crap (or the dogs are smart enough to hide it well).

Very cool the tape was running!
Those "eyesores" make for great drytooling training in the winter though!

WTD? OT

I have to agree with Brendan. WTS = Want To Sell, WTB = Want To Buy. I don't make the rules, I just post them in the most off topic way possible.

Dry tooling

As the winter season approaches my mind starts to think about Ice/Mixed climbing. I was wondering if there are any places in town that dry tooling would be acceptable. Someone mentioned that the chipped wall in the Kacodemon boulder is a possiblity. Are there any others? I'm not looking to hack up a...
