Re: New final pitch to frayed ends of sanity
Did you forget to post this last year?
Awesome! Frayed Ends is such an awesome route. Looking forward to climbing this pitch.

Re: Wasp nest and sketchy tree at the Squawlharny
My partner and I got stung a bunch of times a few weeks ago after climbing Parallel Passages and descending via the Squaw trail (wasps were just downhill from where the trail splits and heads towards Squamishness/Squampton/White Feather area). They were black and very angry. And yesterday while clim...

Re: BCAS reports a climber has fallen from the Chief
CBC said SAR reported she fell from Bellygood. Earlier reports from search and rescue officials said the woman fell from an area known as Bellygood Ledge on the Grand Wall, which has a drop of about 500 metres. All the latest info tells us that the exact location is still unknown. SAR probably mean...

Re: BCAS reports a climber has fallen from the Chief
This is a truly unfortunate event. I can't help but wonder though... People are still debating hiker vs climber - was she wearing a harness or any other climbing-related equipment? Not from what I've heard. That makes her a hiker, no? Not to mention that no partners have come forward (unless fowl pl...

Re: Sunset Strip - A Perfect "5.10" Barometer
Hey Paul, The first bolted face pitch is typical Squamish face climbing - small edges etc (no dykes) - ending in a short lieback crack and easy climbing to anchors. It's more like Cruel Shoes type of climbing and is very obvious where to go. The second fully bolted pitch is a left > right mostly und...

Re: Sunset Strip - A Perfect "5.10" Barometer
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if I could get away with using my wild country #4 instead of having to borrow someone's black diamond. I think mine is just a centimeter smaller. You should be fine. If you forgot your #4 BD it would still be worth doing the route as the cruxes have nothing to do...

Re: Sunset Strip horror show
I re-climbed the route today...not enough exposure and too many ledges to be super-classic Ok, so then what is Angels Crest and all those other routes that are "classic"? I can suggest a good psychologist for whomever claims that's fourth class I said "stiff 4th class", which in your case is euphem...

Re: Sunset Strip horror show
Jesse James (aka solojourneys ), When BK replied that your assessment of the Mouse's Tooth had nothing to do with reality and that you were most likely off route and on acid, it was a testament to your inaptitude to climb anything that hasn't been spoon fed to you. Which, is the same reason you bail...

Re: Sunset Strip horror show
Jesse James, You should stick to softer routes such as Angels Crest and the Grand Wall. Sunset Strip is a fantastic climb put up by one of the best route developers Squamish has seen in a long time (there are other great developers too btw!). SS is very well protected - the second pitch you are refe...

Re: Injured climber/accident on Sat. May 11, 2013
From what S&R told me, Greg was not wearing a helmet. They also mentioned that he smashed his face on a stump and apparently the helmet wouldn't have done much in the way of preventing it. I had just finished TR soloing Senate Seat when they brought you past me. They stopped for a minute or two whil...
