Re: Calling out the Hacks.

People were running up and down the apron today with no rope...I told a guy not to die as he took off, partially joking but also because I agree with everyone above that it is inconsiderate to solo around so many people. I'm all for soloing and understand how great it feels to climb without gear, bu...

Re: Preferred Rope Lengths?

Mike, climbing back home in Oz there are lot's of very wandery sandstone routes which work well with doubles. Most raps are 50m/60m or you have to walk. Aside from that, being able to sew up sketchy routes without worrying about drag and being able to clip one rope without increasing the fall distan...

Re: Preferred Rope Lengths?

Good stuff guys, thanks for the info. Think I'll grab some doubles again, though I guess it won't help in my quest the find partners.....! Happy climbing!

Preferred Rope Lengths?

I just moved from Oz and am needing to buy a cord. As an avid double rope user I was dismayed at the MEC guru's advice that folks out here don't use doubles, ever, but use a single with a retrieval line. So, do I purchase a 70m 9.whatever and ? as a retrieval line? Is a 70m really needed, it seems t...

Aussie's moving to Vancouver

Hi folks, In two weeks my wife and I will be living in Van permanently. We are both avid climbers and have moved to Van for a reason....the rock! We climb up to .11 trad and anything on aid, have been climbing for years are a safe and solid. We like the long, adventurous stuff. I'm 26, she's 30. Thi...
