two points: 1 - Gary is a cool guy and he apologized for leaving that mess (which he cleaned up now), when he left for the winter there was already too much snow and he wasn't able to get back in until recently to clean it up). he did lots of work at Chek while he was staying there (including bringi...

glad to hear you've been to Lion's Head! Great response. i agree (with MOST of it). makes sense (about hardest not being more than 2x harder than avg. person). i remember the first time i saw somebody climb 5.14c (Paxti Usobiaga in Spain, i watched "up close" as i was hanging on a rope filming him w...

itsonlyadream, Sorry to call your experience "limited", i should have chosen my words more carefully, and i didn't mean to insult you. i apologize. i agree you can try to have an "objective" grade for a route, that's what "consensus" means, but if the consensus is that the grade is 5.whatever, it ca...

PS. Really, who cares? Climbing is self-serving and doesn't benefit anybody but yourself. when i send my hardest routes, nobody really cares except me (and maybe my mom). when i hear about Sharma sending a new 5.15, i think "oh, good for him", but it doesn't affect me or my life at all. just have fu...

I mean two grades in general, not just 11c/d and 11d/12a. Perhaps you could outline the objective method you use to identify these grades and how it is grades are consistent for who is climbing it. A reachy 12b for me may feel like a 11d for someone a foot taller. There is really no standard that c...

ROOM for rent: DETAILS....

Perseo's English (and descriptive abilities) is pretty limited, so i'll Add to what he posted: The room is in a house with 2 climber girls (one is my ex-girlfriend), they both work and are reasonably quiet and clean. There is one Dog (a Whippet) and one cat also living there. Rent includes: Laundry,...

Chris Linder LEAD 5.10a on Gear (placing his own pro) a week after his 4th birthday! point is, i bet most 6 yr olds could out-climb most 30 yr olds on their first day! 5.5 would bore a 6 yr old... get him on 5.10! he'll love it! (and probably hike it!) or go with a party of 3 up the Apron, bring him...

Soooooo..... is the snow still there? Can I ditch the snow shoes and just use the mukluks now? there's still snow (last week), but we didn't sink into it like before, it's more compact now and you walk ON it (you still fall in on occasion; i suggest bringing boots for the hike in, and dry shoes/soc...

it's not to be confused tho... the MANBOY is a figment of ones imagination; the BigFoot is not.
we're both real, Big Foot gives me belays sometimes when nobody else wants to go to chek with me, he sucks at dynamic belays though.

ITS EASTER WEEKEND!!!!! the SAS got in touch with parks and the latest communication we received today is that the fuel got deeper as remediation work began so they have had to dig deeper. They are going all out to open by Easter though. The main objective is to clean up the site; parks granted them...
