Re: tree-trunk-tiny-house things?!

They are a public art project that was started over a decade ago. They are tree "books", which chapter by chapter tell the history of Squamish. They are composed of quite elaborate carvings and text. I'm not sure if that is their intended display area, or if they are just receiving their finishing t...

Coroner's service seeking assistance

I've been asked by the coroner's service as a member of Squamish SAR to post the following press release: March 2, 2015 BC Coroners Service seeks public assistance with identification VANCOUVER – The BC Coroners Service, assisted by Squamish Search and Rescue and Squamish RCMP, is seeking the public...

Anchor on top of King of Rock, and possibly Kangaroo Corner (not 100% on this one) at Neat n' Cool are rusted non-stainless bolts.

Re: The Climber's Guide to Squamish New edition

Rumour has it that it might actually come out this season. I won't believe it until I actually have my hands on a copy though. We've been waiting for this updated comprehensive guide for several years. Until then, Squamish Select is your only (relatively) up-to-date and in-print option.

Movin' to Montana cleaned up and ready for action

Before the rains arrived this afternoon, I finally finished the retro-scrubbing and re-bolting of Movin' to Montana . My sincere apologies to anyone who went to do this old classic over the last two years and had to work around my fixed lines. I don't make the time I used to for route cleaning, and ...

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls

Hmmm, Photobucket seems to have cropped the images. If you click on them you get the whole picture, but they're not entirely visible here. http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u475/kris425/IMG_1559_zps7cfacd92.jpg Here's a more centred one that shows the crack in its entirety. Jen is standing in the ...

Here are some pictures of the FA back on November 15. http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u475/kris425/DSCF9748_zpsc6ff62bb.jpg A proud start to Movember, despite a ban on spousal kisses until it's gone. http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u475/kris425/DSCF9753_zpsf789727f.jpg The end of the steep b...

New take on an old route at Shannon Falls

Just wanted to let folks know that I finished the cleaning and likely first free ascent of the old aid route Weeping Wall at Shannon Falls on November 15. This route is very special and I feel very privileged to have been the one to unearth it and see it develop from beneath the greenery. This route...

Re: OT- Squamish Health Care

There definitely is a lack of GP's in Squamish. From what I hear it's pretty much impossible to get a family doctor right now. For someone like your wife, the problem may be that unless she is willing or able to open her own practice, there are no openings at the existing one (s?) There are two othe...

Re: Ultimate Everything

I think there is something far more innocent here. I asked a couple of friends to replace the two missing hangers when they went up there a few of days ago. They said they only found the hanger from the top station missing. However, neither of them had done the route in a few years, and they think t...
