Re: Lower Black dyke

Heard that either due to holds falling out or just being a complete sandbag, that particular pitch feels more like 12+...... Just FYI.

Re: Rusty Bolt Replacement

Yeah that's the one. It's the bolt that is loose in the rock, not the nut loose on the bolt.

Re: Rusty Bolt Replacement

Last time I was on it, one of the bolts (I think the second one) on Jacobs Ladder was spinning in the rock. That was late last year though, so it very well could be fixed by now. I was on Sanctuary at Rogues this past weekend though, and there are four or five fixed draws on it which are looking a b...

Re: BCAS‬ reports a climber has fallen from the Chief

Just hypothesizing about the details. Was it a climber or a lost hiker? Coming off of Bellygood sounds like a climber. For it to be a hiker, they would either have to be really lost, or know exactly where they are going. If they knew where they were going, then chances are they would know what they ...

Re: BCAS‬ reports a climber has fallen from the Chief

No way that it would still be wet. Silly to be unroped. Any experienced climbers would know better than to go across unroped, but it's too exposed for a newer climber to think that it would be a good idea. Maybe it was their first time and they thought it was a walk after the first narrow bit? Slipp...

Re: BCAS‬ reports a climber has fallen from the Chief

Very unfortunate. Not often you hear about this type of situation in Squamish. I heard the heli and thought it was a typical long weekend epic. Never would have thought it was anything overly serious.
Sorry to hear it. Really puts things in perspective.

Re: Theft at Area 44 on Sunday

Lame. Would like to think that it wasn't a local, as they seem to be quite more respectful than that.
Would go so far as to say whoever took them wasn't even a climber, at least not a real climber.
Real climbers don't take from their own.

Re: Freeway rack?

It'll eat up wires for sure, but the placements would be strenuous. I got ropegunned up it late last season, and my buddy did it without RPs, seeming to get by on regular small nuts and small cams. I don't think we had anything smaller than a blue Alien. Double green and purple to protect the roof p...

Re: apologizing to Colin Moorehead, thoughts on route develo

I haven't climbed Sunset Strip yet, so can't speak as to the quality of it, but here are my observations, based on the original thread and people's responses. I'm not speaking for everyone, but I believe that the "ad hominem attacks" on your opinion of the route in question were based not on what yo...

Looking to borrow a VG9

Hey all, just wondering if anyone in Squamish has a Valley Giant 9 that they would be willing to lend out for this weekend.
More than willing to give beer of your choice if you can help out!

Re: Bouldering in May June?

You can generally boulder all winter as long as it isn't raining. Locals climb year round. It starts to get regular dry periods from March onwards.

Re: Sunset Strip horror show

I have not climbed Sunset Strip so can not comment as to the quality or nature of the route. I have climbed Millennium Falcon since SS was opened however, and I know which belay ledge JJ is talking about. I feel that the cutting of trees there was absolutely unnecessary. There were a couple cedars t...

Hahaha I can't believe that was still there, especially after all the rain. Not mine, belongs to Brownie; he lost it when we climbed Falcon about three weeks ago. I'm sure he'd love to have it back. I'll get him to contact you.

Wasp nest at Nightmare

Just a heads up, it seems that there is a wasp nest at Nightmare Rock just in the ground by an obvious stump, over near the base of Sentry Box and Perspective. Put my bag on it the other day and they seemed pretty unhappy about it.
