I'm firmly against any sort of fixed line on Broadway. Sure, the first time down that traverse one stays pretty focused, but it all adds to the adventure. Fixed lines inevitably turn into a manky, crusty mess that aren't to be trusted. They also promote loading them with body weight instead of just ...

LOL! Have we really run out of stuff to clean with high potential and need to go after the super choss? Good luck with that one!!

Has anyone had a run at those cracks at the bottom of the north Bulletheads (3rd abortion, etc). They look to be pretty high quality in dire need of a scrub.

My buddy Joe and I tried to clean it around 1992 and got a severe lesson in the difficulty of scrubbing a route in the wet. Especially a route that isn't straight down. I'm still mentally scarred from that experience. As for bolting the wide cracks I say go for it. I'm pretty old school and crusty b...

I'm cleaning out more stuff. I've got Canadian Alpine Journals Volumes 77-86 to give away and Accidents in North American Mountaineering '93-'97.

FREE: Eiger Dreams by Jon Krakauer

I'm getting rid of stuff in preperation for a move to Hornby Island. This is a book that would appeal to lots of people in this forum. Its a paperback of great short stories about various mountaineering adventures. Lots of great stories. Free to anyone who can pick them up at my place in East Van. C...

Too funny! Actually, I'm a super crusty old trad and get cranky when there's ANYONE at the crag... kids, dogs, cats, or dancing girls...

Fair 'nuff, but when you consider how many routes are in that book, to have 1 or 2 that are messed up is well within the acceptable rate, IMHO. Also, Kevin has to rely on the first ascentionist in many cases. Mostly they're going to give good information. In some situations, you're going to get a sa...

Why would you think that McLean should apologize for someone giving him bad beta? Do you really think that he climbs everything himself to verify the beta? Look up the person that put the route up and get them to apologize. Or do like I did and send Kevin an email with your thoughts about the route ...
