Yikes!

Now I'm going to have that thought in my head during my next lead. :P

Re: Is Squamish Soft?

That's the section where you trend up and left on an unprotected (easy) slab and need to get up a small bulge to reach the belay? I remember it rather well. I think it was my introduction to Squamish leading on gear. It was .. interesting. Does it feel spookier than Merci Me? No .. not nearly...

Re: Is Squamish Soft?

but that photo is not from the spicy section. At least, not as I remember it. You are right Jipstyle. The spicy bit for me is short little dyke getting to the second belay... Everything else is just a little runout, but there is always pro where you need it. Even the spicy bit has pro at your feet ...

Re: Is Squamish Soft?

Snake was the first time I understood what the word "Spicy" means in climbing. That photo makes it look ok I think. Its got holds and gear below him with the promise of some above. Its not like I found Banana Peel 'hard' psychologically or physically, its just a bit ironic that I have now lived in ...

Re: What have you climbed lately?

Direct start is fun eh? Way better than the old one. I like the bouldery type move to get into the corner. Yeah, we really liked it. Getting up into the corner was fun .. took a while to figure out how to do it without looking a whale flopping around in sticky rubber for the first time. Congrats on...

Re: What have you climbed lately?

Climbed Calculus Direct into Calculus today. Great route. Managed to turn the day into a mini-epic by taking my first fall on gear (30ft., nothing pulled), got off route on the way up and WAY off route on the way down, and possibly set a record for long ascent ever. The fact that I wore my boulderin...

Re: wailing and whining forum

I prefer flamewars and internet-tough-guyisms to nodding yesmen circle jerks. I want to put this on a t-shirt. I know a few people who talk exactly like they write online and are great people IRL but come off as A$$%$#^@ online. Those are often my favorite people. Why can't people hash out bolting ...

Re: New Fixed Chain on Broadway

We don't need to have the same debate every time that this happens. The community shows itself, over and over, to be against adding hardware on classic 4th class scrambles. New climbers are welcome to learn the same way that we did ... with their hearts in their throats and their mentors grinning ev...

Re: What have you climbed lately?

Was Skywalker busy Jipstyle? It was less busy than I'd expected for a Saturday but the day started very cloudy, so I imagine most stayed home. Suckers. ;) We arrived at the base of the climb around 9:30 to find one party on the 2nd pitch and one on the first. A second party of four arrived after us...
