Forget about the hiking shoes. Get a pair of approach shoes. Less bulky and you can climb some pitchs in them!

Well if you throw a small lock on the tent door and someone looks in and sees nothing then they may just move on! Better then giving them the oppertunity to rifle through all of your belongings!

I would hide the gear under your sleeping bag. I also put a luggage lock, small key lock, through the 2 zippers of the screen door of the tent. That is if you have two zippers on yours.
