Re: Mank Patrol

@ woahmid:
the bolts I use from Hilti are 304 stainless. It is the most readily available and as we seem not have the same issues with stress corrosion cracking seen in tropical maritime sedimentary rock climbing areas.

Re: Mank Question

3/8" chain works. The quick link is the important component - 3/8" minimum and use stainless steel biners to reduce wear and potential rope desheathing please.

Re: SAS Trail day

Peter Winter (CASBC) and I are leading trail day this year. The Trail day is to start at 8 at the adventure centre. The proposed objective this year is to build a safer new access trail to Angels crest from the sheriffs badge . It is likely to be an interesting project. And there should be lots of s...

These routes are located ...

Re: New trad route at Quercus Cliff

Hi All: I developed and sent a new variation to the Moustache Women on the weekend. Clean Shaven Girls (10-) climbs to the tree prior to the traverse on the Moustache Women. You then are able to climb the arete by grabbing a couple of big jugs to progress to a smooth bald slab for the finish. Gear t...

Re: update falcon closures this year

That is the only closure so far.Well also the routes above angels crest accessed from Borderline (Highplains Drifter Area) . Usually only one nesting pair is present on the Chief. Over the last few years the falcons have been moving their nest sites around quite a bit and since we have an actual obs...

Falcon Closure - Angels Crest

The following has been posted to BC Parks Stawamus Chief page: The Angel’s Crest Trail is now open, but the climbing route Angel’s Crest remains CLOSED until further notice due to peregrine falcons nesting in the area. Rockfall debris is present on the upper sections of the Angel’s Crest Trail. Plea...

Re: Angel's Crest

I have fowarded this sighting information to BC Parks for confirmation by their biologist. Just a reminder that peregrines are a red listed endangered species in Canada and disturbance of their nest sites is illegal and carries a significant legal penalties. Plus you could get scalped by talons. If ...

Re: Mank Patrol

I fixed the second anchor on Hanging Garden at the papoose June 06/2015 and cleaned the needles out of the cracks. It still may have a little residual dirt around but at least you can put gear in now.

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls

Climbed this route today and the quality is outstanding. Splitter hands to fingers to the last moves. Equal to Arrowroot or exasperator. The exit however is extremely exciting and thin. it certainly would be VERY nice to have the 1/4" bolt replaced with a nice 3/8" to protect the final moves. I was ...
