Please don't get me wrong, I'm on good terms with Robin and have discussed this stuff in the past with him too. The guy does a huge service to the community and 95% of his energies are well received and respected. His argument that putting in good anchors in cost prohibitive because of the volume of...

Those staples look like they're for log booms. As much as I appreciate Robin's absolutely massive contribution to new routing around BC, he can be unbelievably stubborn when it comes to his notoriously cheapo anchors. It was frustrating to replace his dog-collar sized chain with no hangers before, b...

Great work Seth and friends! That trail is overdue since they deactivated the road on the other side. I did the route with the regular decent for the second time last summer and swore off ever going back after having to walk the extra 12km out the road to our second car at the old highway. Ick!

Unfortunately the updrafts are really bad in that area. If it's dry enough to sweep, then the air is usually going up. The entire thing was swept twice after the scrubbing was finished and I may have ended up with more fine dust up high than I started with... It's raining now, so we'll see how well ...

A few years ago I considered investigating it for free climbing possibilities. A closer inspection and scoping from below and the side with binoculars revealed a vertical jungle that made even me wince. We're not talking shrubs here. There are huge healthy cedars growing out of that overhanging corn...

do you step right before passing that grubby-looking flake in the corner that has a little tree sticking out of it? I could see a rounded corner just below it and wondered if that was where she should have gone across. Yes, you step right well before the fuzzy flake. Reaching out at your first oppo...

Thanks for the responses. I'm pretty confident the grade will settle in at 5.9, especially after a good bath. I'm always open to suggestions though. It definately feels similar or easier than something like Memorial Crack, Old Age, or Up Up and Away. Someone needs to go send that proud, steep (and r...

New start to Calculus Crack
The short answer: 20m to the left of the traditional start to St Vitus etc, Two pitches of corners and cracks lead directly up to the bolt anchor at the regular beginning of Calculus Crack. P1. Face climb past a bolt to gain the long left facing corner. At your first opportunity, step right, out of ...
