Re: Calling out the Hacks.

As for things pinballing down the Apron; I've witnessed a biner weave its way through 3 parties on Banana Peel narrowly missing a family of 3 at an anchor none of whom were wearing helmets. If you're going to wear a helmet climbing anywhere, moderate routes on the Apron rank high on the list. I'm n...

Re: Calling out the Hacks.

That second youtube video is amazingly inspiring (for me anyways) but also ridiculously hard to comprehend the level at which those people are soloing.

Re: Multi Pitch Politeness when stuck behind slow folks.

It probably isn't the best idea for you to clip into their personal anchor, but the belay station doesn't belong to them. Ideally if there is a party one pitch above you, then both your party and theirs will have their leader climbing at the same time. You don't want hit their belay before they've e...

Looking for someone to do a run up the Grand

Hey all, I'm looking for someone capable to possibly take me up the Grand Wall? I haven't done it yet, and have been hoping to get there before summer is out. It seems to be just within my reach in terms of grade, so I am willing to lead any pitch, saving you the trouble of hauling my a$% up there. ...

Re: Multi Pitch Politeness when stuck behind slow folks.

Leader of your party meets them at one set of anchors, says, 'hey, mind if we run past you?' and if they are cool, they say no go ahead, or if they decide to be asses, then they'll say yeah we mind, usually in a rude tone. Most slower parties are pretty cool about it, you just have to ask.

Re: Calling out the Hacks.

Going against what I said above about soloing meaning going at it alone, and speaking of the Apron, I hope to get up a little earlier on Saturday and get a quick solo in of either Deidre or Calculus (or Banana Peel, whichever has the least people), then run up Boomstick and the Butt Face. Anyone wan...

Re: Lost Mens Wedding Ring Apron Trail

Shoddy deal man, I'll keep my eye open for it next time I go up there if it hasn't been found by then. I actually put my wedding band right on my keyring when I climb, then zipper the whole deal up good.

Re: Best new routes / crags in last two years

Climbed Underwire at Pet wall yesterday...... lots of fun pulling that roof :) I enjoyed the start as well.
I haven't heard of Welcome to Squampton on the Squaw, but Straight Outta Squampton is a boulder problem, so they have to be two different routes.

Re: Calling out the Hacks.

It's not a matter of doing risky things, cause everyone does them at one point or another, it's a matter of doing them when other people may suffer the consequences. No one is telling this kid to not solo Mosquito; by all means, solo away, but wait until no one else is around. Soloing is about being...

Re: Calling out the Hacks.

As a soloist myself, I'm not sure how appropriate it is to post in this particular thread, but here goes. I have no problem with soloing, or other people soloing, as long as it is WELL within their ability. If this kid was trying to onsight solo a 5.8, then he should be climbing AT LEAST 5.10+ 5.11-...

Re: angels crest pitch 6

We didn't climb it so much as aid it...... it was steep and had the slightest overhang...... I'd give it at minimum 10d..... maybe 11-. I didn't think it was that good, but then we also didn't climb the original pitch. It was also a bit of an epic to get there, so our heads weren't in the right plac...
