Re: Chebacca's 5.10b 3p at Shannon Falls

I stood on that ledge for a while before I was willing to commit. I remember thinking that the fall would be a bit ugly.

There is a good but somewhat hidden hold on the left facing wall (left of the ledge, right of the slab) that makes the move to the bolt ok.

Re: Chebacca's 5.10b 3p at Shannon Falls

I climbed this yesterday, and it is awesome. Pitch one climbs easy ground to a steep off fingers/thin hands crack finishing at a small ledge with two belay bolts. Graded 5.10a on the topo and this seemed about right. This felt like the hardest pitch to me, though perhaps because I wasn't warmed up y...

Re: Sunset Strip horror show

I climbed this on Friday. FWIW I am really short and had no trouble clipping the first bolt on pitch 2, though I did find some of the other bolts on the route to be rather high. I thought that the grades were rather stiff on a lot of the pitches, though the two 10d pitches were straightforward. In f...

Re: Visiting Aussies

Mec in Vancouver has good prices for gear. Valhalla in Squamish is another good place with good selection.

For bikes, try Craigslist or pinkbike. Rentals are available in Squamish and may be a good way to go.

Re: Top Shelf topos

I was one of the mob on Sunday. Lots of fun. Thumbs up. There is an offwidth at the right side of the lefthand sector (near the short fixed line). Does anyone know if it has been climbed? It looks appealing, sort of. As much as an offwidth can be appealing. Kind of like that girl back in high school...

Nice video, great send.

I threw up a bit in my mouth watching the fall. Impressive.

Glad you're going to be ok. I hope the recovery goes well, and maybe this will help all of us to be vigilant. Climbing is dangerous enough.

Re: Marchello Shoe Repair

Friend of mine had his done and the quality was poor. I had some done by the Rubber Roo. In Bishop and they are great. Even with shipping the price is the same or less as getting it done locally. I recommend them, though it takes a while.

Found bouldering guidebook

I just noticed that I have two of them. One of them is not mine, taken accidentally. No name in it.

Anyone missing one? I think it was grabbed by mistake back on a Wednesday in late march from near Easy in an Easy Chair. That's the last time I was bouldering with other people around.

Re: Let's wake up the forum: 2013 climbing goals

My wife ordered the VG9 directly from whoever the guy is that makes them. Apparently it fits perfectly on Pipeline.

If you go to the Bugaboos, make sure to get on Sunshine if you haven't already. Best route ever.

Re: Let's wake up the forum: 2013 climbing goals

Last year was good for me. I climbed a lot of routes that for whatever reasons, likely cowardice, I hadn't done previously. This year, off the top of my head .... Pipeline - this has been on my radar for a while but fear has kept me grounded. My wife bought me a Valley Giant for Christmas so I have ...

Re: Disaster Response (3 p 5.10) on a new wall

Did this yesterday. Nice route and very clean. I agree that the second pitch was really good with fun moves at the roof. We did the wider variation as it looked appealing, and was good hands then fists/layback. We had two 3s and a 4, and this was enough to sew it up. The fingers crack reminded me of...

Re: Unheralded Squamish classics

Slap and Tickle is awesome. The crux is a mini dyno for me. Much better than HMW .

I haven't tried Quagmire Crack yet. I'll have to get on that.
