Re: Hanging Gardens at the Papoose
I'll keep it ship-shape until it's in a guidebook from either of our local authors. It's unfortunate that it didn't make it into the Select guide, but by the time I had it ready, that chapter of the book was already formatted, and there was no space left to squeeze in something new.

Re: Polaris Pitch Four
The stump is out, and there's a fresh bolt just above that spot. Now the first bolt is about four or five feet above the station, and the next one is five feet past that. The fixed ropes that were still strung up the first three pitches have been removed too. I'm psyched to see so much chalk on the ...

Re: Polaris Pitch Four
Thanks for the additional feedback. I'm headed up this morning to take out the stump on P4and add a bolt. The next time I get up there with a partner, I will reinspect the chockstone to ensure it doesn't seem any more perilous than it has been in the past. I'm pretty sure its fine, but use your good...

Re: Polaris Pitch Four
The stump has indeed gotten much looser over the past year. We tried removing it when taking down last season's fixed lines this spring. It still has one very tenacious root that I have to go and tackle with the right equipment. That's the reason I left the fixed lines up to that point. (Hope they'r...

Re: A helping hand
Hi Drew,
Development definitely ramps up in the off season. I think it's what some of us do to stay sane when faced with months of damp cold rock. I'd be happy to help you get started. Have Murray or Pete give you my contact info.

Re: Papoose new topo
That's great. Now what about the left side of the Papoose? Maybe that'll be chapter 2. There's only a handfull of routes left out of that topo to the left of what's shown.

Re: Rock Climbing Meetup @ Smoke Bluffs *open to all*
Be aware that it'll be a bit crazy in the bluffs on the 15th as the Test of Metal race runs right through there. It's right at the end of the race, so there will be about 1000 riders spread over five hours charging through the main trail from Northridge Dr. to the Bluffs parking lot. Parking will be...

Nice to see some home footage of that. Getting sweaty palms like watching that old "Hard Grit" video.

Re: dogs at the cliff
Well, that looked like most of Skaha last weekend. I heard that BC Parks is considering a complete ban on dogs there. I wouldn't blame them at all if they went ahead with it. It was a complete circus there.

Re: Injured climber/accident on Sat. May 11, 2013
Kudos to you for having the guts to post up about your accident so that others might learn. I'm glad to hear you're going to be alright. Hopefully you came away from the incident with more than just one of your nine lives missing.

UFO docking station attachment points.
Looks like someone put in an anchor, rapped in to take a look, then pulled their hangers after it didn't look worthwhile. Either that or someone stole the hangers off of an obscure route that almost no one is ever going to find or climb.

Re: Help with a checklist for trip to Squamish
It would help to know things like: What is your mode of travel? Where are you planning on staying once you're here? (camping vs. apt.) What kind of climbing do you already have the gear for and what do you want to do while here? How long are you staying for? Squamish has almost everything, and much ...

Re: Climbing Gym in Squamish?
I'm not sure that Squamish has the population to support a climbing gym, especially through the summer. I heard of someone doing a feasibility study on starting one within the last few years, and the numbers just didn't add up. On top of that, our real estate, including the sort of light industrial ...
