Re: Climb On

No, Valhalla Pure is actually expanding their current location. It looks like it'll be roughly twice as big.

Re: Reslinging cams

I heard once that OnSight Equipment in Squamish would re-sling cams, but as far as I know they aren't doing it now. Anyways, I would highly advise getting Metolius or some other reputable manufacturer to do it. It's a good time of year, too, since you will probably have them back in time for climbin...

Re: Local climber Jason Kruk makes historic ascent of compre

Yeah I know, but it was already there. And in fact as I understand it, the bolt ladder got used by lots of people, in like, bad weather, and just as a way to get to the top of a notoriously difficult mountain. You know, despite all the usual foaming-at-the-mouth, and stuff. I'm totally not saying I ...

Re: Winter Ascent of Yak Peak?

I'm not sure about beta, but I've climbed Yak in summer, and I've been ski touring up the Coquihalla many times, and from looking out across the valley, I can tell you that all those slabs up there, especially on Yak, slide out very quickly after a snowfall. I don't know exactly if that's good or ba...

Re: Iceclimbing - the bluffs?

Bughouse Heights area forms several top-rope-accessible ice climbs. Mostly thin smears, but occasionally a fat icicle forms as well in one of the corners. And I think "Old Age" in between Zombie Roof and Mosquito area forms into a big fat boy icicle. FYI the Leviticus area across from Murrin forms s...

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)

My own opinion on this proposed development is that it will take away from the integrity of the Chief and Shannon falls provincial parks. I believe that the gondola will add stress to an already over used resource and that compromising the values for which the park was originally established to all...

Re: Area 44

Some of the routes are a bit contrived, perhaps, given that it seems like the developers probably had to rip most of the outer layer of rock off with pry bars... It's a loose area in general. For example, on climb #22 "Allemange Right", there is a sizeable pillar of rock actually bolted to the cliff...

Re: Clean Corner

I really hope that all the work I've done for climbers in Squamish hasn't made me infamous
Many people mistakenly say "infamous" when they really, actually, only mean "famous".

Or perhaps he really means "occasionally embattled"?

Re: Clean Corner

I have a friend, he's a very strong climber. I'd say my friend climbs 5.11+ trad no problem, probably harder. He said he once climbed Clean Corner (a couple of years ago) and it was anything but a 5.8 cakewalk. I remember him talking about "mandatory moves up sketchy turf", "sapling pro", and it bei...
