Re: Bon Echo Park - Mazinaw Lake, Ontario
Great. Thanks again, people, for the beta. Will keep an eye out for the peregrines, for sure. Saw one the other day while at the base of the Tantalus Wall...he was screaming away, sounded a little upset, I definitely wouldn't want to be in the cross-hairs of one who was.. See ya when we get back. {C...

Re: Bon Echo Park - Mazinaw Lake, Ontario
Awesome! Thanks so much for the beta. I found the link to the guide there (who woulda thunk that one can download and print a whole guidebook?). And the route suggestions, much apprec...we are looking for moderates, up to 5.8... I was wondering about any good single-pitch in the 5.10 range but not s...

Bon Echo Park - Mazinaw Lake, Ontario
Hi. Just seeing if anyone has been there and could recommend a couple of good routes there. My wife's family has a cottage nearby so we're bringing the rack and rope and going to get a couple of days in there.

Re: New routes above and beyond area
Thanks to Paul for recommending Cruising to Infinity! That is a blockbuster of a crack! (should have taped up though, ouch). Just wondering ..does anyone know if there's a way to rap with a single rope off of the s side of the route? We saw a single bolt painted red near the top but nothing down belo...

Re: Negro Lesbian
You want stories? Check out the following thread from the "Supertaco". Its titled "Climbing in Squamish in the 70's". I've linked to a msg talking about big walls including the Negro Lesbian....the whole thread, though, makes for some fine rainy day reading. http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread....

Re: 5.10 crack testpieces
"Canadian Compromise 10a into Quagmire Crack 10c- if u are a 5.10 climber & onsight this u are stoked" I want to second the motion on this one as being a definite testpiece. Its long, its sustained, its a gear battle, which i think are qualities of a true testpiece. And it was one onsight that i was...

Ya, it was a wild whip and to be at the very last move, at the top of the Tantalus Wall, made it quite memorable. Still feeling lucky that it wasn't any worse. Don't know, maybe that anchor should be moved over and you could call that the final pitch... if its not too much work....i could help out i...

The falcon closure has been lifted. The Milk Road is open for business. I caught wind of a rumour that the belay bolts atop pitch 8 are now gone. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I have a little story and a suggestion regarding this belay. We were on this route yesterday, had a fantastic time by th...

Unless you want to go for the true summit, in which case you could bring a rope and a couple of pins in order to drop into a gully then climb the never-climbed choss to the top. And if you find good placements for your gear you could even do a tyrolean back to the lower(regular) summit.. i've wanted...
