New Rogues Routes

Some new routes have been added to the upper Rogues area: Where the trail splits to go to Fitness World (right) and This Bud's for you (left) there are three climbs at "King's Landing": The Hand of the King 10d Start out an alcove and straight up through blocks and a partial crack, pull a bulge. The...

Re: Logging route development

Having cut down many a tree in the interest of new routes, as well as sitting in on the discussions for the rock climbing strategy, I can tell you that there will never be consensus regarding trees. Everyone is different in what the consider a "natural" environment and what trees are sacred and what...

Re: Attack of the Arc'gucci Clones 5.11 six pitch

We did most of the route the other day. It's good, hard in warm conditions, but the rap anchors really need to be done properly. Hangers with a quicklink are not ideal for the rope. I believe another party tried to update them with a single point type system with the gear they had at the time , but ...

Re: Upper Olesen Creek logging- results of July 22nd meeting

Thanx for the detailed report and for attending the meetings Chris. It's obvious BCTS is willing to work with the climbing community to protect our climbing assets. However, the broader issue is the visual impact, mainly from the Chief. This involves more than the climbing community and would need t...

Re: Escape Velocity, 5.9, Mt. Habrich

I don't generally comment on quality etc regarding new routes. However, Jeremy is asking so I'll way in with our opinion. We did it this weekend b/c we got skunked on Life on Earth (too many parties). There were four of us and we all thought it was mostly heather ledges and very little rock climbing...

Re: Simpson - Strong Tie Bolts - Warning

I called Simpson and talked to one of their engineers after Eric brought this up. The shear strength numbers that Eric is using are after a factor of 4, at least. So the breaking strength is in fact meeting the standard of 20kn. Yes the Hilti are better in certain aspects, but as Kris quite rightly ...

The Trestle

South facing cliff, over the Chekamus River. Full sun. Vertical to overhanging, techy long routes. Only 5 at the moment, but are very good. It's been around for a little while, just didn't announce it. Getting there: Same rough area as Star Chek. Northbound from Chek, once heading down the hill park...
