Re: Dry rock this time of year?
bouldering in exposed areas is probably a better bet (i go all the time in winter). but most cracks will seep this time of the year and those big wet streaks on the apron are all you need to know about the conditions up there...

Re: Ten Years After Photos
Nice work! And way to take your time and just enjoy yourself out there. No point rushing things if yer enjoying the experience. That being said, I've only solo-aided a big wall once (portaledge and all...) and it was so freaking slow i think 2 pitches per day is about as fast as I can go!

Re: Occupy The Smoke Bluffs Day
Sorry .. I have to get in to the office and work. I may be part of the "99%" but I'm not going to b%$ch aimlessly about the fact that I can only afford a nice life. oh come now, that's a bit flippant don't you think? but then again, i dunno if all of this resonates as well up here in the great whit...

Re: FSR Closed Sunday Due To...
Scary stuff indeed. I was off bouldering by myself near the apron yesterday and came back to the apron parking lot mid afternoon to find the area behind police tape. They wouldn't let me or anyone else either in the parking lot or coming back along Mamquam forest service road leave the area for a go...

Re: Stuck gear
ah, I stand corrected. my partner and I were on the second pitch as they tried to pry out the booty while rappelling down the route. thought i heard them say they got it but we didn't exactly have the best vantage point.

Re: Stuck gear
the fixed camalot on apron strings got snagged today by a couple visiting americans. think it was a .75. too bad, i was happy to clip it on my way up

oh for gawds sake...
If you felt that strongly about it, you should've just cleaned it yourself. But you didn't. So don't b%$ch. And don't use the belay if you don't like it... princess...

Re: Here we go again (Squamish Gondola proposal)
I'm with BK on this one. In an age where people are disconnecting themselves from the natural world more and more and living in concrete jungles and the depths of the internet (whoops, is that what I'm doing here? ;)), anything that gets people closer to nature is probably a good thing. I doubt they...

Re: Scary days at the Smoke Bluffs......
if you're going to change plans, give the new plan as much consideration as you did the original. +1 for sure. And especially so when taking along newcomers since they will often assume that whatever choices and judgements you make for yourself ARE ALSO THE BEST FOR THEM. As you clearly realize now...

Re: Multi Pitch Politeness when stuck behind slow folks.
It's fun too when you've got a hot-shot guy taking his ladyfriend up a climb that's clearly over her head. First he refuses to let you pass cause he claims they're actually fast, and then it gets really fun (read: awkward) since you've now got a front row seat to watch them as she goes super slow, t...

Re: Skywalker, 5p, 5.8
Got out onto the route last week (midweek, there was a lineup, had to wait it out cragging near klahanie crack!). Have to agree with many of the comments regarding the second pitch. if you're a newbie trad climber just getting to know corner/crack work, you're gonna get spanked. still, it protects w...

Dang. Impressive photo. looks like it'll take some time before the mountains (and everywhere else) get into summer mode. Thanks Jessie and Bruce for the beta and sorry to everyone else for the thread-drift!
