Quick Links

Will any old stainless steel quick link do on an anchor or is there a certain rating/brand that is required?

I ask because I have purchased some steel anchor biners for up at Chek.

Anything we can do to maintain our climbing areas the better. We walk a fine line as a user group as we do not throw around enough money to get a big say in matters.

For the Chek area, I would hate to annoy the holder of the FSR permit as they could easily deny us access up the road.

Climers' Worst Enemy

Climber's worst own enemy is themselves. It is unbelievable that a select few fight hard for the rights of climbers to just have climbers screw it all up. I was out at Chek today and saw garbage and filth laying about where there some campers had been, and I am not talking about that Gary guy who li...

Gear in Wet Crack

I had the interesting experience of climbing Deidre on Friday with wet holds. The thought occurred to me after wards what the likely hood might be of the water in the crack affecting the gear placements.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

I would be interested in knowing if the milestones described in the original document were met and if the yearly meetings took place. Strange that this document has not been revised in 8 or more years.

Who are you, David Graham? Going around and down grading everything you get on? :) For the most part, I think the grades for Got Pull, and Rug Munchers are good as is. Rug Munchers may or may not be harder than 11d. But that is just me adding in my two cents. Andrew Itkonen should weigh in, he has c...

I used to feel the EXACT same way when I lived out in Abbotsford. I don't have that problem anymore now that I have one hell of a view of Howe Sound from my backyard. I do feel your pain but you need to complain to the owner's of the web cams. It's those bastards who need to sort their s*&t out!

I was there last Saturday and had a stellar day climbing in the warm sunshine. The rock was perfect. The only snow that is left is in patches by the side of the road and trails.

My girlfriend and I took her 12 and 6 year olds to Pixie's Corner. Good climbing there for kids. Octopus Garden would probably be another kid friendly crag, that is where I hope to take the boys next. Hell, we took them to Bishop and had them both bouldering in the Happys and climbing in the Gorge. ...

What really f*&king bothers me is that the majority of life threatening injuries and deaths in this sport are not from actually climbing a route but from getting off of one. I am seen as a 'dear devil' because I am risking my life climbing a rock. Climbing can be a slow, boring process. However, the...

A very interesting read. It could be that the provincial gov't is setting up a turf war between the forest and mining industries. The best way to fight back would be to mail your MLA quickly and get him/er on board to vote 'No' for Bill 30. Honestly, our economy is being driven by commodities at the...
