Re: Pet Wall closed till 5th of April

I was at Neat and Cool when they broke down their fake rock bit in the corner. The dude needed a chainsaw to cut down the little construction and then they lifted it out of there. He was in a bit of a rush but at the same time he was pretty concerned about cleaning up the place in a decent manner. H...

Re: Pet Wall closed till 5th of April

I'm impressed they let you get to Up Among the Firs... in my case I couldn't enter the forest from the lake in that general direction at all. Last weekend Stephanie Meyer was in town (the author of the vampire books) and her publisher. It would be great if climbers and movie people would benefit bot...

Pet Wall closed till 5th of April

For some mysterious movie... with security posing as fishers at Murrin Lake... and security is super eager to kick your butt as soon as you step past their sign at the beginning of the path to Pet Wall, just off the lake.

We hiked the VF last Tuesday, did the entire loop from the Slarnhay (or howevever the pc name of the Squaw is spelled). When we got to the bottom of the VF, we bumped into a couple of Japanese hikers with a didgeridoo, and politely pointed out the path for the second peak, since it seemed to be thei...

I was out yesterday morning to take a look at Funarama and saw that just the hardware was removed, but the screws are still there. I'm not really interested in the guilt game but what's gonna happen now? Can anyone just go up there and stick new bolts on the screws and then climb them again? Should ...

Bushwacked around your crag today, but more to the right I think, got to the first wall right next to Gonz creek 50m up from the highway and walked up the slope till we saw a huge icefest/rockwall with a couple of neat cracks. Next time I might explore a bit more left of the creek, to see where your...

Oops So, euh, no penalty then? And they still got serious money for that stretch of land? And Miller is on the picture with a bunch of other people, celebrating this crucial step in ecological recovery and access for the community? Ah well, it's better without all those trees anyway, way easier to s...

Didn't someone illegally log that stretch of land? Did it happen just before plans were made to sell it?

Great crag, did the 5.8 and 5.10c but then I backed off Genesis, had no idea what I was on and my nuts were too small. Loved Genecide! Great climb!

Sounds pretty confrontational Alpine. Not that complaining about it on the internet like the rest of us is really helping anything, but I must admit I wouldn't like it if someone replaced my climbing gear. I'm trying to think of something valuable and constructive to say in this post but the only th...

That first trail is marked with orange tape, pretty overgrown after 5min but continues for another 10min and then peters out at a small creek. You also pass a creek with tons of wood in it on your right. I'm guessing the Barley crag is right next to the main trail, with some beautiful cracks and a g...

Oh, and hiking to the base will take you 2.5 hours, 11k, just pass the boulder blockade at 4.5k, keep going, don't take the first uphill path 2k after the blockade but take the next one that has a huge 1.5m long arrow (made of stones on the ground) pointing towards the path at 8k or so. From the cam...

I hiked up Sky Pilot last week. Lots of snow, camping below Habrich seemed quite fine, another party did it recently since they left beer cans (for which I can only hope bad karma will make one of their testicles implode), and yet another team was going up for an ascent on last Saturday. The base lo...
