Re: Logging planned above Squaw/ Olson creek
I have emailed and voiced my opposition as well and urge everyone else to do the same before July 22 when SAS and CASBC meet with forest officials.

Re: Your chance to change BCTS logging plans
Thanks Chris and thanks SAS and CASBC for speaking up and advocating for climbers on this issue. Logging will definitely change everything that makes climbing beautiful and special in Squamish, especially in these relatively new and unique crags. I have emailed as suggested and urge everyone here to...

Re: Squamish Mountain Festival Coming mid-July
I see there are a few spots left in the climbing clinics, but many are already sold out. As of July 11 Bouldering basics and intro to Rock Climbing were open on Saturday, as well as multi-pitch clinic and alpine climbing skills. Sunday, just the multi-pitch and alpine clinics had openings. But it’s ...

Fire Hazard High - No Smoking in Smoke Bluffs
Just got a an alert from the Smoke Bluffs Park Committee. They are very concerned about the dry conditions and potential of a fire. There is a smoking ban in the park. Please remind anybody you see smoking to butt out. And a reminder there is fire ban in the District of Squamish. Open fires are not ...

Re: Squamish Mountain Festival Coming mid-July
Thanks Hevy for spotting this, the article does a pretty decent job avoiding most of the hyperbole and incorrect terms you usually see in media pieces. Along with Toby's piece it's nice to see Marc and Will getting a wider profile they deserve. Good going guys.

Re: Climbing Boulder and Slack Lines Coming to Downtown
Excellent news Hevy, they picked the right guy to set up a slackline park. What will it look like? Are you still planning a hevyfest slackline festival?

Re: Squamish Mountain Festival Coming mid-July
OK so I’ve got a heads up on an inside scoop and few more details. One of the fun things about attending the festival are the multiple opportunities to score free stuff. This happens at film nights during intermission when climbing gear, packs and other goodies are tossed out into the audience, or a...

Climbing Boulder and Slack Lines Coming to Downtown
Downtown Squamish is getting a climbing boulder at O’Siyam Pavilion Park and across the street, a new park on the shore of Mamquam Channel that will have slack lines and a bicycle pump track. Big kudos to Mayor Rob Kirkham and councillors Susan Chapelle and Doug Race. Kirkham pushed for this project...

SC a winner in - What's your Squamish story? contest
Submitted an entry in the Squamish Chief and Sea to Sky Gondola contest - What's your Squamish story. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks Sea to Sky Gondola and Squamish Chief. These stories just bolster what we already know, we live in "the best place on earth" At the base of the Chief in...

Re: Are these newish climbs in the Smoke Bluffs?
No kidding Hevy, I just can't keep up with all the new routing you're doing. Thanks for the hard work. The crag looks deceiving, like a short and easy romp.
I guess those cracks require strong jamming and finger locking technique.
I'm going to merge this topic with Cracklandia now.

New Sweet Spot
So on the way home after a day of cragging with my family, - see this post - we stopped to check out this viewpoint looking across the fjord and Mt Sedgewick as well as down towards Anvil Island. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-supC60WgjOk/U4wcjGvO6OI/AAAAAAAAHFw/G7KEprB2AAM/w830-h553-no/DSC_0032...

Are these newish climbs in the Smoke Bluffs?
On the way up to Call it a Day the other day we came across this crag that looked as if it had been relatively recently scrubbed. This is on the Loop Trail heading up to Octopus Garden. Hevy is this handiwork? Any idea on the names and grades? https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-8ah57fDMHic/U4wcbXLzG...

He's going to have to step up his game to compete with this http://i1.wp.com/rantsnrascals.com/wp-content/uploads/fB_headline.jpg?resize=640%2C320 I don't think he's the first one to set up a lemonade stand on the Chief either, I came across this strange video shot a couple of years ago. Re: West side of squam river
I am going to resurrect this old thread to see if anybody has any updates. Kris (aka scrubber) et al have you done any more climbing over there? Has anybody repeated Matt’s climb the Titan? Was on the dike the other weekend and took these shots. Is Titan the roof in the this shot? https://lh5.google...
