Re: Lowering off chains
Just to be completely clear, I hold no grudges against sporto's or peope who are flumoxed by something as complex as threading a rope through chains. I understand and fully empathize with drug abuse. Especially while climbing.

Re: Alpine rock in North Joffre creek
If i was to take a wild guess, running shoes. The mountains have never been more withered and dried out even in late september.

Re: Lowering off chains
I got nuthin against sporto's. However, if a climber has trouble figuring out how to rappel off a chain anchor, I'd say they arn't really much of a climber are they?

Re: Lowering off chains
Ithink it should be mandatory rapping. Clean up the gene pool a bit, by the sounds of it.

Re: Hard substance sprayed on boulders
Can't imagine. White stuff.... do they keep it in a sock? Sounds like Barley to me! Reminds me of a time Dave Alexander and I were down at Smith rocks at the hieght of the sport climbing freakout. We were doing laps on a classic 11a in the middle of "the big scene" or whatever its called. A whole bu...

Re: Hard substance sprayed on boulders
I have yet to see a concise, detailed description of the "hard substance applied to rock" event - how it happened, intentional or by mistake, effectiveness of removal, how such an event is handled by BC Parks process, etc. That appears to be the only thing that deserves a legitimate complaint, yet a...

Re: New Life approach
Incidentally, Alaska highway looks to be completely untouched by the rockfall, including the tree's right at the base of the first pitch. Its a wild guess but just possibly, if you were anywhere on the route durring the event, you might have survived just fine, unless you had a heart attack. At any ...

Re: New Life approach
Take the north north gully trail and look for a cairn and faint trail shooting right. Its a cruise and totally unaffected by the rock fall. Traversing the rockfall is no big deal either and its kinda cool to check out the destruction

Re: "USHBA" failure - ground fall
Thanks for the ASAP heads up. Something of interest came up. A local retailer mentioned that the manufacturer of the Grandwall Ucender ( aluminum Ushba knock off used so commonly) started installing a "stronger" spring about 2 years ago. It is concievable that the earlier models were installed with ...

Re: Harvey - Pup Buttress
Its worth doing. Close to home and great view of the sound. Rock is "good", not bad as migth be expected. I don't remember any problem with bush either on route or the approach. Unlikey you'll find water.

Re: squamish via ferrata
You must admit, its a little curious that on one hand most of us ( me too) can't abide a totally coolio via ferrata up the Torre, then with a casual glance around our own backyard decide that a whole bunch scattered around our own mountains or sea side granite monoliths would be totally awesome. Wha...

Re: Hard substance sprayed on boulders
Hey, what the hell.... I just heard on CBC radio that someone is moaning about " The film industry shouldn't be allowed to use the park for two weeks" or words to that effect. We don't need that sort of whining coming out of our community. It makes us look like a bunch of entitled navel gazers. Its ...

Re: Hard substance sprayed on boulders
the fear is that they won't take it seriously or care enough to remove it without damage. They must take it seriously and care, by the terms of the park use permit. However, consider for a moment the vast majority of film productions are very sensitive to this requirement and they demostrate it. I ...
