Re: restaurants and cost

Wow. That really sucks. I'm still pretty sure that's not legal. It was not legal in NS .. don't know about the laws here, though. I had a boss who decided that he 'deserved' 50% of the tips left in the tip jar. We told him that he could take his greedy paws out of our jar or he could try to rehire ...

Re: restaurants and cost

Just wondering if anyone else likes to eat out at the local restaurants but feels bad about not leaving a tip or leaving a one dollar tip on a $40 bill? I know that we are living in tents, but if we can afford to go out and drink and eat we can afford to at least tip no? A one dollar tip is not som...

Re: Grand Finale open for business!

Woo! This looks awesome.

Any comments on the gear? I see bolts but I also see gear hanging from a harness. Sport? Mixed bolts and gear?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Re: New Routes Right of Zoe, Murrin Park.

To call me selfish wasn't an attack on my character? I didn't call you selfish ... I called your position selfish. Since this isn't the first time that you've been an a$% in responding to me, I didn't feel the need to put on the kiddie gloves. Whatever. Let's move on. I can't think of any such rout...

Re: New Routes Right of Zoe, Murrin Park.

You argued that trad climbing is out of most people's reach because of the cost of the gear .. and that, therefore, the climbs should be bolted for them. Oversimplified. I said applying your rule everywhere is discriminatory to some. You also said that Chek is an example of this ... so please do te...

Re: New Routes Right of Zoe, Murrin Park.

The cost of buying a trad rack should never be a consideration when placing bolts. That is ridiculous. It sounds like you want to be part of an exclusive group, which is elitist, and ridiculous. You think you are pretty high and mighty with your $200 rack. Starting a response with an ad hominem att...

Re: New Routes Right of Zoe, Murrin Park.

It's a difficult decision, and I think every bluff needs individual consideration. You can't apply the rule "only bolt if there's no natural pro" everywhere, because you'll restrict all those who can't afford to buy a $1K+ rack to slab. Yes, you absolutely can and should apply that rule whenever po...

Re: Sullys projects

I agree with bb's summary.

The easiest way for me to find the trail is to keep my eyes up as I'm ascending ... when I see the yellow sign for the trail to Lynn Peak in the distance, I know that I'm close to the trail to the crag.

If you get to the yellow sign, you've gone too far.

Re: Sullys projects

Interesting. We found that the grades were a bit soft on 3M and Little Lulu ... we figured them at 5.8 and easy 5.9, respectively ... but the grades will even out with some consensus, I figure. We also really enjoy Speed Dial #8 (5.11a) and Shake Your Lettuce (5.10d) .. but I think the grades should...

Re: What have you climbed lately?

Jipstyle- High mountain woody is awesome. A 48 meter rope stretcher, it's a pretty sweet pitch. Imagine the effort It took to clean it! Cleaning it must have been quite a task! I returned to it today and red-pointed it ... my first solid 5.9 on gear. Absolutely fantastic pitch ... I wanted to rap b...

Re: What have you climbed lately?

I climbed on the Malamute for the first time this past weekend. We did a couple of sport slabs (why? WHY?! I hate slab SO MUCH) and then ambled down to try High Mountain Woody. What a fantastic route this is!
