Re: recently new route on south part of apron
Here is the long thread about the recleaning of Slab Alley a few years ago. There was an alternate ending added to it, which closely parallels the easy walk-off. That might be what you're referring to.

Re: Teetering on the Brink of Madness
I'd say that teetering has a slightly harder crux sequence, but DITL is much more sustained. I enjoy the unusual and varied climbing on Teetering quite a bit more. It definitely kept your attention when it was still 1/4 inch bolts.

The link to SAS's facebook page doesn't work. I think this one does:

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls
I love it! Thanks everyone for weighing in. It looks like although I left one of the old bolts for historical context, folks have trouble with old shitty fixed gear being there. Either it needs to be gone completely (which I think I'll do) or replaced (which some good-intentioned samaritan will prob...

Re: Lowering off chains
...or they happen to be making an informed, albeit less common choice to rap instead of lower. I will concede that it is almost always more logical to lower off overhanging routes. However, on less steep routes, the choice to rap may sometimes be better due to bolt placements in relation to edges. A...

Re: New final pitch to frayed ends of sanity
Did this new pitch for the first time today and was really impressed! The opening moves down-climbing from the belay looked impossible until you're actually committed to them. The pitch is surprisingly sustained. I kept expecting it to relent , but it kept fighting back. You guys did a great job buf...

Re: Squamish's stiffest routes...
It's still almost all brass, Perry. My recollection is that there are just a few small TCU placements, but nothing larger than a blue metolious. That pitch is quite scruffy right now, unless someone has brushed it in the last couple of months. Its fantastic in its own right, but I don't expect to se...

Re: Squamish's stiffest routes...
Since re cleaning Moovin to Montana last spring, I had worried that the first 5.10 pitch might now be significantly harder. I decided to remove a burly little bansi of a cedar that you previously had to reach to, mantle, then tiptoe off of. What resulted was about fifteen feet of tips jamming in the...

Re: New take on an old route at Shannon Falls
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed the climbing. I'd like to hear some more opinions before deciding whether or not to add a bolt at the top. With the bolt, it will be a very sterile experience. Without it, there is the potential for a clean fall with bomber gear at or just below...

Re: Dry-tooling at popular crags
I view it in a similar light to nailing on established free routes, or clean aid routes. It's a destructive and unsustainable use of a finite resource. There are literally thousands of undeveloped scruffy crags around the North Shore and Squamish to practice this kind of thing on, if you are so incl...

Re: Large rockfall, North Walls
My understanding is that the four climbers (actually seven climbers in three parties) "evacuated" themselves by continuing their climb up Angel's Crest, and topping out. SAR was not involved in any extrication, rescue, or evacuation of any climbers. We were standing by while fly-bys were done to try...

Re: Mank Patrol
I mean no disrespect to anyone here, but a loose or missing hanger, or a worn quicklink are the responsibility of all climbers. The SAS and other organizations have done a great job funding, or actually doing the rebolting of older routes with less than sufficient or outdated fixed protection. Pleas...
