Re: Best Beginner Trad Routes??
If you want first time climbers to lose interest in rock climbing in under five minutes, then by all means take them to Sugerloaf. Oh, yeah, Call it a Day. Daycare is in Skaha I think. Stupid.hevyduty wrote:h Hey jonny wheres Daycare at the bluffs! never heard of the crag ? area?
FWIW, I think Sugarloaf is better for your first day ever, than any of of the bluffs crags. You can even do a mini multipitch on Lieback Crack.

Re: Best Beginner Trad Routes??
The easy routes at Sugarloaf, The Commonwealth (both at Murrin) and Daycare at the Smoke Bluffs all provide nice straight forward climbing where you can place lots of gear from stable positions.

Re: Top Shelf topos
Well, as I mentioned, the routes I did felt similar in character to index; strong lines based on crack systems, vertical on average, high quality. The quality seems to kick in around 10d and generally you get up to two long pitches. The crag seems to be well equipped, lower offs are in place. Its pr...

The grades are fair up there. Just be prepared to get worked, that's all..... Went there Sunday, all I can say is WOW. It was comically mobbed, lots of the local mafia and a smattering of sponsored superheroes seeing what all the fuss is about. I'd agree with your sentiment, I thought the grading w...

Sounds amazing, like Meshuga in the Peak District.
If the name is a Led Zep reference, shouldn't it be The Battle of Evermore?
Edit: Apparently he did name it The Battle of Evermore.

Re: Injured climber at Octopus Garden on Sat. May 11, 2013
what I take away from this fall is the importance of knotting the rope ends before rapping. it's something every climber knows is an added level of safety when rapelling, but so few of us bother to do it. What jeffski said. And putting knots in your rope is far from a fix all solution Greg, I've be...
