I was up there with my daughter on Monday (hello Sherri from Washington, Isabelle says hi!), and we gave her a hip belay on the way down. As the last person, I tried using the ropes for support, but in retrospect they were anti-helpful. ... (Hello Isabelle and Avit!) It wasn't all that long ago tha...

Bear in mind that this may be a troll - if so, a clever one, . Actually, it wouldn't have been clever at all given the likelihood of another poster having been up there within the past 24hrs to see them with their own eyeballs. It was a genuine inquiry about the fixed line's source. I've noticed a ...

The traverse has always scared me, but I considered it part of the overall experience. I think I was even getting a little more confident on it w/each crossing. The fixed line makes it look safe, but I'm not so sure it really makes it safe. For someone who truly is freaked out there, roping up would...

Fixed line for Broadway descent?
In the last two weeks, two fixed lines showed up on the exposed traverse off the right side of Broadway ledge.
Just curious as to whether they were part of an official SAS trail upgrade? Or someone's personal project?

Most of what I've read here is right on with how I'd describe this route. I climbed it a couple weeks ago and it was not at all what I expected from a Squamish route, but that is precisely what I liked about it. We were all pleasantly suprised at how it was almost the polar opposite of the Apron rou...

Cragging on Saturday(6/6)?
Anyone interested in some 5.8-5.10 trad around the Smoke Bluffs on Saturday? My partner is not showing up til Sunday so I've got some time to kill. I have a rope and rack and prioritize safety(yours and mine).
I'll check PM's tonight and in the morning.

Careful...wasp(?) nest on Penny Lane
There is a small, active nest in the crack. I felt something odd when I stuck in a hand jam--thought it was a pine cone until visual inspection showed it to be otherwise. Fortunately, it was still cool and early enough in the morning that they weren't in the mood for retaliation. It's about ...

FWIW, the Inn on the Water is currently engulfed by road construction activity. My last stay there was a nightmare w/the jackhammers, blasters, trucks, and piling drivers going all night and day right outside the door. If you're immune to that sort of noise pollution, though, it's definitely worth c...

Hey Blake, A friend of mine is booked at the Garibaldi Budget Inn in downton Squamish. She got a unit w/kitchenette for $275 per week, so the daily rates can't be too bad. Seemed like a decent place for the budget traveller. Here's a link w/contact info: http://www.hellobc.com/en-CA/AccommodationSpe...
