just poked around in the bluffs... a few smears, right of Old Age (Killer Fridge?), Krack Rock, Black Zawn or Crystal Wall (not very familiar with that area, and can't tell which is which from the trail) nothing appears leadable. +2 degrees at 3 pm, water running under most everthing. The smear at O...

And even then, hope for good luck. This summer was extremely dry by our standards, but last year we had periods of virtually solid rain for 3 weeks at a time in summer. No different from where you're from, really

But yes, they'll have loads to do

Aaron, do you mean persuade top-ropers to climb the new line "no-see-um" to take pressure off the heavily polished Mosquito?

Or rather to keep top-ropers off?

oh but the skiing! For one thing, Whistler is expected to have far below average skier-days during the Olympics - so if you're willing to fight the mess at the bottom, you should enjoy more primo skiing up top. and I guess I'll just have to leave for the Duffy the night before, after 6pm, for tourin...

Cruising to Infinity - Above & Beyond

Anyone else been on this? Had quite the adventure yesterday... Decided last minute to go past the Bulletheads and up to the Solarium to get on Sunblessed. Hadn't been there before, and headed off the 3rd peak trail far too early, got scrambling around some slabs and steps and ended up out at Above &...

It does look like the logo! And definitely appears different from different vantages... Again from Bivouac; The south tower involves a difficult traverse on loose rock along an exposed arete. The north tower is technically easier, a Class 3-4 scramble) but is also loose and exposed unless done when ...

hm, makes sense - although if I were using the X, I guess I would either be top-belaying or belaying a top-roper (either way, essentially a 2nd) and in that case the rope to the climber should already be in the direction of pull, so the strands would already be equalized... I guess this would not be...

tie a figure eight on a bight. You mean overhand ;) Ooh, controversy! ;) personally I tie an 8, as it's easier to untie if loaded - why the overhand, Brendan? strength difference? (to be honest, I usually use the "sliding death x", which, depending on which argument you prefer, is either much safer...

soloing Banana Peel has been my most memorable slab adventure, what a romp! It was followed by my first (and only so far!) trip down the slab descent - which scared the crap out of me! i had seen guys tromp down it in sandals with all their gear swinging from their backs, but I was reduced to crab-w...

Wow, I will deifinitely disagree with Dakine. By far most of the sport climbs in the S2S corridor are 11 and up. Ideally, a range from 5.7 to 12 can keep things interesting for everybody and their girl/boyfriends, but there are very few areas around with easy sport leading for the newer climber. how...
