Ticks

A Word of warning I found two (unattached) ticks on me after climbing at Porteau cove last night. Western Black-legged Tick (Ixodes pacificus) my climbing partner found one on him as well.

For New climbers heading outside

Hi All, This past weekend was a beautiful spring day and throughout the Squamish area climbers were abound. I wanted to remind all the new climbers that are heading out that climbing on real rock has inherent risks and that after a winter the rock does reserve the right to change. This means that ro...

Re: Fern Hill Update

We got on "Winston's Folly" today and it seemed solid at 12a the crux is pretty bouldery.
Harder than Yellow beard, face the music, harder than Chromatic suspension (11d) or borrow (11d)... Fun route thanks for putting it up!!

Re: Lower Black dyke

Most excellent beta slhughes thank you. I wanted to do it from the ground up but didn't want to run into a 13b roof with no exit :) now that I know there are bomber nylon jugs I'll try and give it a burn.

Re: Lower Black dyke

thanks guys,
I've been wanting to check out the route but don't know anyone that has tried it. I see in Sarah Hart's blog she was up there ( scroll to the bottom)...

Lower Black dyke

Is there a way to get to the 12a pitch of the Lower blk dyke other than having to climb through the 13b pitch? Can you rap in from above? It looks and sounds like a fantastic route steep and over hanging. (25 draws!)

Re: New Area - Porteau

I'd suggest bumping the grades on the first contact wall for the 11's they all feel about the same to me in around 11c. Solid Gold feels bang on (we pulled lots of rock off) Pre clip the second draw if you don't boulder hard.

Re: Your shoe Rubber opinion wanted here!

It doesn't really matter, the rubber won't make any noticeable difference to climbing. It might make a slight difference in longevity as the C4 is supposed to wear slightly better than the XSV. Personally I chuck my old shoes I find resoling for 70 bucks is nothing like buying a new pair. For indoor...

Re: New - Quercus Wall - Murrin Park

We hit up this new wall on sunday and it is a thing of beauty!
If you haven't gone there yet stop reading this and go. We climbed the 10d, 10c, 11a (trad), as a warm up and sent Peter's amazing new route ( a prince among thieves 12b). Spectacular climbing in a very scenic setting.
Go... Go now. :D

Re: Customisable Climbing Shoes

Actually I would just like to have the option to have the shoes custom made, so a mold of my feet taken and the shoes built off that. No dead space no buying 1-2 sizes too small only to have one shoe tighter than the other...

Re: New Area - Porteau

Three of us went up there on Sunday and tried out a few routes on the First contact wall and the Watch tower. It's well worth the drive and 10 min easy hike into the area. "Howe sweet it is" is a long interesting route 35m with two distinct cruxes. I'll be going back to sample the harder lines as so...
