Domes

pinner - Not that I know of. The one on the left (west) is pretty low angle and brushy. One on the right (east) is much more promising, prob. 5-6 pitches of technical. Has very interesting featured rock with lots of pockets and vertical water channels, which you can see if you squint close at the ph...

Fire locn

My guess is the fire was up on the Stawamus/Indian road at about 3 km above the Shannon turnoff. Thats where the heli logging was decking their logs, and there are slash piles up there now covered with the red/orange fire retardant stuff. Some of the larger live trees have been charred too. Well out...

Shannon Creek

I had to get the last word in on this: Here is the ultimate mode to access Sky Pilot / Habrich from the N: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_zcqF8Bv6AQs/TDoPBZnVxjI/AAAAAAAAElk/bDHs7gWoGEU/s800/P7100903.JPG Thats a foreshortened Habrich SW side in the top of the frame. Better than a mtn bike because its fun goi...

Great news

This is really good news, and pretty much unexpected too - I thought MoF would permanently close that road just to save the money. I was up there 2 weekends ago to snowline, which at the time is right at the trail access to Fluffy Kitten. Yes you can drive right there with a half decent vehicle, the...

Case in point; On the top of the first pitch of Sunshine Breakfast you enter a hand size crack before reaching the belay. The route developers cleaned the crack and subsequently removed the route system to a tree found at the first belay. Presumably, in keeping with Parks climbing strategy they kep...

Slab Alley / Mobius / Frankenstein

Hi Anders - This is a worthwhile project! Pascal Simard, Andy Durie, and I put up Frankenstein Tradster a few years back, don't think it gets too much traffic. The route topo is here (http://www.quickdrawpublications.com/Frankenstein.pdf) but I think you already have a copy. The location I drew for ...

Thank you everyone for all your help. This is a great website to get information. I love how it all works. How far is the hike in without a bike?? Hike to base of wall is 45 minutes of trail hiking above the Stawamus River, PLUS 5 km / 300 m elevation gain hiking along the Stawamus / Indian road. I...

What a coincidence....

Hey workingman thanks for the props! As it happens, on that day (Sunday May 4) I had taken my parents, who were visiting here from Ontario, on a small-plane flight around Squamish. We flew behind the chief and I had a look down onto EUTS - and saw your party on the route. From that distance I could ...

Crack cleaning

Rude replies should abound but people are so polite! I know some use the big industrial push-brooms for major moss - the ones with the stiff bristles. I always stuck to wire brush and gardening tools. A great tool is the 3-prong weeding tool, they are cheap at the hardware store, just break off the ...

Tree octopus garden

I am torn about it too. I agree that the tree can be defined as a "normal" hazard of climbing, but believe that "normal" is different between routes like the ones at Octopus Garden, which are very popular with beginning leaders, and routes like North N Arete which are full of trees but are not climb...

Ryan B: Its do-able in a day, but that is a very full day. It depends on how speedy and fit you are. Me for example, a 37 year old college teacher, I might have a tough time hiking in and climbing Life On Earth in a single day anymore, but there are lots out there who would not. Good luck, be safe.

Shannon Creek rd

J Mace: I think it washed out significantly over the winter, and the alder has been growing like crazy this spring. Right now its all ribboned up and the washouts have been spray painted for culvert installation - this is a good thing. I am good with the liability thing on my dirt bike - I have a du...
