I took a couple of friends up SA on Tue and we all really enjoyed it. We all thought the first 4 pitches were superb! The last 3 were fun (Boomstick is the one pitch I've done before). I thought it was great to have a direct variation to p6, which is fun, in the spirit of the route and also takes yo...

I climbed it the day after you put it up and thought it was great!
I really liked the first pitch and thought it was 5.9.
I'm happy to hear you didn't bolt the first anchor (after seeing two Xs on the rock there).

Great job and thanks for all the work!

FYI - Rockfall at the north end of the Grand Wall on Sat

Last Saturday, a couple of friends and I were warming up on Seasoned in the Sun when we saw significant rock fall north of us and south of the Apron, roughly above Ghostdancing. It was very significant, with numerous volleys of boulders coming down most of the length of the wall. We couldn't tell ex...

Thanks for the hard work Jeremy et al.
It's a great route and really enhances the Milk Run experience.

One correction for the (otherwise great) topo is that pitch 7 is probably 50m, not 30 (and watch out for rope drag).

Thanks again!

Thanks for checking up on that Jeff!

We looked for closure signs on the way in but after this thread I wasn't sure anymore.

Good to know we're not poachers :D

Shouldn't be a problem taking gumbies up as long as the leader is competent and they are explained not to drop rocks on parties below. The climbing is easy.

Yes, neither...

Also, I would be really careful of rock fall if there is a party above you (or if you are on Aeroroute or Ruttabega)!

FFA of Europa 5.8

Today we, Saar Moisa and Vince Beyer, made an on sight FFA of Europa (5.8). We stuck to Jeff's topo and description of Europa, to the letter, with the exception of the bolt ladder part of pitch 6. Description: From the bolted anchor, stem wildly to a knob on the left, past dike features and a cedar ...

I'm sure the gully was exciting, never gone up it but heard stories. The most exciting part of St Vitus was actually the green death slabs at the top (5.2, slightly run out and yes, green!). :D

Hey!!! I was up on St. Vitus yesterday and really enjoyed it! The fact that my partner fell two meters wasn't due to the fact that he was on lead, but rather that we linked the last two pitches and there was a lot of stretch on ~40m of rope. I can assure you the crack was more painful then the fall....

The left variation felt stiff at the end of a long day, both Ian and I weighed the rope once, for the first time that day... I was lucky enough to get up at last light, just enough to see the next hand hold, and Ian had to go up with a headlamp. Ian met the Ausies at the campground the next day and ...
